Overall Purpose of the Role
The Maintenance Technical Support Engineer (Fleet Support Engineer) is responsible for 24-hour fleet management, coordination, planning, and ensuring timely train handovers between the depot and the operator. The role ensures safety, performance, and customer satisfaction by managing train availability and depot operations aligned with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet Operations & Planning
- Oversee daily fleet availability, coordination, and planning in collaboration with Maintenance and Product Introduction teams.
- Coordinate train movements for maintenance, arrivals, departures, and shunting.
- Ensure fit trains are available to the DCC (Depot Control Centre) as per the operational plan.
Customer & Stakeholder Interface
- Serve as a single point of contact with the operator and employer for daily depot operations.
- Liaise with DCC, OHE, Track, and onboard signalling teams for RS (Rolling Stock) maintenance needs.
- Ensure real-time customer support and effective handling of forward-facing defects.
Reporting & Documentation
- Submit timely reports and notices to the customer in coordination with internal stakeholders.
- Provide up-to-date information on fleet status to internal departments and customers.
- Support exceptional scheduling needs aligned with customer and commercial requirements.
Train In/Out & KPI Management
- Manage inbound and outbound train movements with proper documentation.
- Define and implement fleet strategy per contractual KPIs and business requirements.
- Actively participate in fleet planning and contribute to performance and availability discussions.
Key Skills & Competencies
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree (B.Tech / BE) in Electrical / Electronics or equivalent
Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of metro or railway maintenance and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with maintenance planning systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo)
- Hands-on experience in MS Project or other scheduling tools
- Understanding of quality and safety systems and standards
- Experience with fleet operations or service site environments

Experience Requirements
- 4–5 years in:
- Metro/Railway Fleet Coordination or Maintenance
- Locomotive/Train operations
- Customer support and troubleshooting
- Helpline or PRT (Passenger Request Terminal) management
Languages:
- Proficiency in Hindi and English
