Project Description:
- Responsible for end-to-end performance engineering, capacity planning, and system tuning across large-scale IBM z/OS Parallel Sysplex environments. This role requires expert-level technical depth in SMF-based analysis, WLM policy behavior, infrastructure measurement, and mainframe subsystem interactions. Only candidates with direct, senior-level mainframe performance engineering experience will be considered.
Responsibilities:
- - Familiarity with SMF/RMF record structures
- - Must be familiar with SAS programming and statistical data
- - Utilize knowledge of large scale operational and system concepts
- - Develop and maintain system performance reporting using MXG, SAS, and Splunk
- - Monitor daily system health for areas of improvement and exceptions
- - Deliver recommendations for enhancing performance
- - Perform problem resolution to system health conditions
- - Familiar with coupling facility performance and/or LPAR weights and capping
- - Participation in a 24x7x365 oncall rotation to support performance & restoration of health
- - Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in the use of TSO and ISPF
- - Familiar with Omegamon as a system performance monitor
- - Demonstrated basic knowledge of zOS, JCL, and ability to modify jobstreams for batch
- - Has responsibility and capability to work multi-platforms with zOS and/or zLinux
- - Troubleshoot complex incidents and develop skills for future technologies
- - Develop POC of new products and define center of excellence for the organization
- - Designs and documents technical solutions required to support complex business system including general documentation for use by Computer Operations
- - Usage of AI is required for daily support and assistance in efficient productivity
Mandatory Skills Description:
- - 10+ years of mainframe systems experience with proficiency in performance management for large, multi-processor, multi-LPAR, Parallel Sysplex environments.
- - 2 years experience working with SAS programming
- - Familiarity with WLM (workload manager), MXG, & ThruPut Manager (batch priority software)
- - Knowledge of z/OS, z/VM, z/Linux, CICS, DB2, Strobe, & monitoring systems (e.g. Omegamon)
