Role Summary
We are seeking a Mainframe Print Services Engineer with hands-on experience in z/OS print infrastructure, spool management, and output distribution systems. The role focuses on ensuring reliable, high-volume print processing and output delivery across enterprise environments.
This position is ideal for candidates with experience in mainframe operations, JES spool management, or output management tools who want to grow into a specialized print services role.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support mainframe print services including spool, output queues, and print workflows
- Monitor and troubleshoot JES2/JES3 spool processing and print-related issues
- Configure and maintain print/output management tools such as:
- PSF (Print Services Facility)
- Info print Server
- CA Spool / VPS / ESP (or equivalent)
- Handle print job routing, formatting, and distribution across enterprise systems
- Analyze and resolve print failures, delays, and spool congestion issues
- Work with application teams to ensure correct output generation (reports, statements, batch outputs)
- Perform capacity planning and spool utilization monitoring
- Automate print workflows using JCL, REXX, or scheduling tools
- Maintain documentation and support incident/problem management processes
Required Skills & Experience
- 68 years of experience in Mainframe (z/OS) environment
- Strong understanding of:
- JES2/JES3 spool management
- JCL and batch processing
- Experience with print/output tools (any of the below is acceptable):
- PSF / Infoprint Server
- CA Spool / VPS / ESP
- Exposure to output datasets, SYSOUT handling, and print queues
- Basic knowledge of REXX / CLIST / scripting
- Familiarity with incident management tools (ServiceNow, Remedy, etc.)
