Work Location: Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi

Role Summary: We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong expertise in COBOL-based application development and maintenance to work on mission-critical enterprise and banking systems.

The role involves working closely with Product Owners, Solution Architects, and Analysts to translate business requirements into robust technical designs and reliable mainframe solutions, while adhering to high standards of code quality, stability, and performance.

The selected candidate is expected to contribute across batch and online processing, perform deep-dive analysis and troubleshooting, and ensure smooth delivery within an Agile/Scrum framework.

Skill Requirements: Hands-on experience on the skillsets below

Must Have skillsets :

• COBOL / MS COBOL (application development, enhancement, and maintenance)
• JCL for batch job design and execution
• Strong experience in batch and online transaction processing
• DB2 (preferred) or equivalent relational databases
• Working knowledge of SQL
• Exposure to IMS (optional / good-to-have)
• Checkpoint restart processing (DB2 / IMS)
• GSAM file processing
• Understanding of batch flow scheduling and dependencies
• Experience with batch schedulers (preferred: Control-M)

Good to have skillsets:

• Mainframe + CICS + CICS Webservices
• Ability to perform deep call-flow analysis across multiple COBOL programs
• Working knowledge of Agile / Scrum delivery model
• Familiarity with modernized hybrid environments (mainframe + distributed)
• CICD, DevOps pipeline experience
• Banking / Financial Services domain experience

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain COBOL-based mainframe applications supporting business-critical functions
• Develop and support batch jobs using JCL, ensuring reliability, performance, and restartability
• Work with DB2 (and IMS where applicable) for data access, validation, and performance optimization
• Analyze production incidents, debug abends, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
• Perform end-to-end impact analysis across multiple COBOL programs and batch flows
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Solution Architects, and Business Analysts to refine epics and user stories
• Translate solution architecture into technical design and working software
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and documentation requirements
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and support iterative, incremental delivery
• Contribute to system stability, reliability, and continuous improvement of delivery practices
