Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain mainframe-based applications using COBOL and related mainframe tools and utilities.
Analyze business requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and implement efficient, scalable solutions on the mainframe platform.
Perform impact analysis, code changes, unit testing, and integration testing for enhancements, defect fixes, and production support activities.
Optimize existing COBOL programs and mainframe jobs for performance, reliability, and maintainability.
Collaborate with business analysts, QA, and infrastructure teams to ensure end-to-end delivery of features and releases.
Provide L3 support for critical production issues, including root-cause analysis and permanent fixes.
Participate in code reviews, enforce coding standards, and contribute to best practices for mainframe development.
Create and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, job flows, and support guides.
Mentor junior team members on mainframe concepts, COBOL coding practices, and troubleshooting techniques.
Contribute to modernization initiatives, including refactoring legacy code and preparing systems for integration with newer technologies.
Knowledge of more than one technology
Basics of Architecture and Design fundamentals
Knowledge of Testing tools
Knowledge of agile methodologies
Understanding of Project life cycle activities on development and maintenance projects
Understanding of one or more Estimation methodologies, Knowledge of Quality processes
Basics of business domain to understand the business requirements
Analytical abilities, Strong Technical Skills, Good communication skills
Good understanding of the technology and domain
Ability to demonstrate a sound understanding of software quality assurance principles, SOLID design principles and modelling methods
Awareness of latest technologies and trends
Excellent problem solving, analytical and debugging skills
