Job Description

As a Machine Learning Engineer at ERIC Robotics, you will be the part of development, deployment, and optimization of intelligent perception systems powering our robotics platforms. You will work closely with robotics, mechanical, and electronics teams to design AI-driven solutions for real-world inspection, automation, and predictive systems. This role requires strong ownership — from data engineering and model development to deployment on edge hardware and field validation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models for object detection, segmentation, classification, anomaly detection, and predictive maintenance
  • Architect scalable data pipelines for dataset collection, preprocessing, augmentation, labeling, and validation
  • Perform rigorous model evaluation, bench marking, and optimization using appropriate metrics
  • Integrate AI models into robotics systems (ROS / ROS 2 pipelines) ensuring real-time performance
  • Optimize models for deployment on edge devices (Jets on / GPU systems) focusing on latency and efficiency
  • Work with multi-sensor data (LiDAR, camera, IMU, encoders, profiles) and contribute to sensor fusion pipelines
  • Conduct field validation, debugging, and performance monitoring of deployed systems
  • Implement experiment tracking, reproducibility practices, and structured ML workflows
  • Continuously explore and implement advancements in AI and machine learning to enhance system capabilities
  • Document model architecture, experiments, results, and deployment procedures clearly

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence or a related field
  • Strong hands-on experience in deep learning frameworks (PyTorch / TensorFlow or equivalent)
  • Solid understanding of computer vision and model evaluation metrics
  • Experience working with large datasets and data preprocessing workflows
  • Familiarity with ROS / ROS 2-based systems
  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience deploying models on edge hardware (Jetson, CUDA, TensorRT, ONNX)
  • Knowledge of 3D perception and point cloud processing
  • Experience with MLOps tools (MLflow, W&B, CI/CD pipelines)
  • Background in robotics perception, navigation, or inspection systems
  • Understanding of real-time inference optimization
