Position Description: M365 and Exchange Engineer IV
Job Summary
The P4 Microsoft 365 and Email Engineer serves as the technical lead for the M365 and email engineering team. This role requires deep expertise in Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online and on-premises Exchange environments, as well as advanced knowledge of email systems and related technologies. The individual will provide strategic technical guidance, lead complex initiatives, and deliver daily coaching and support to junior engineers. This position is critical for ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of enterprise messaging and collaboration platforms.
Responsibilities
- Act as the de facto technical lead for the M365 and email engineering team.
- Define and drive technical strategy for Microsoft 365 and email platforms, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Provide expert-level support for Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and related components.
- Manage and maintain on-premises Exchange environments, including hybrid configurations.
- Lead complex troubleshooting and root cause analysis for messaging and collaboration issues.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering technical growth and best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement secure, scalable solutions.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to enhance system performance and reliability.
- Demonstrate leadership competencies by influencing technical decisions, fostering collaboration, and driving accountability across the team.
Additional Requirements
- Typically requires 7+ years of professional experience, and expert level proficiency with tools, systems, and procedures required to accomplish the job.
- Bachelor's degree, applicable certification or equivalent experience.
- Experience leading technical teams and providing mentorship and guidance.
- Extensive skills and experience with Microsoft 365 administration and engineering, including Exchange Online and hybrid deployments.
- Advanced skills troubleshooting and resolving complex mail flow and 3rd party app integrations.
- Proven ability to design and implement technical strategies for enterprise messaging systems.
- Proficient with PowerShell and MS Graph scripting, automation, and configuration management.
- Expert level knowledge of security best practices for email and collaboration platforms.
- Strong understanding and knowledge of Active Directory and Entra identity (Groups, Users, Security roles, etc.)
- Experience administering Microsoft Intune a plus but not required

- Work Schedule: IST overlap with PST hours (M-F, 12:30-9:30pm IST) plus rotating 24x7 on-call
