Job Description

Primary title: Senior Jewellery Designer

About The Opportunity

A design-led role within the Luxury Jewellery & High-End Retail sector, focused on creating bespoke and small-series collections for premium domestic and international clientele. This is an on-site design position based in India, working across concept design, CAD-to-prototype workflows, and production hand-offs for precious-metal and gemstone jewellery.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end design of luxury jewellery pieces and small collectionsconcept sketches, detailed CAD modelling, renderings, and technical drawings for manufacture.
  • Create high-fidelity 3D models and photorealistic renders to validate proportions, stone layouts and finishing prior to prototyping.
  • Translate design intent into manufacturable specifications: prepare tech packs, stone lists, tolerances, and liaison notes for casting and setting teams.
  • Hand-finish prototypes and participate in wax carving and model refinement sessions to ensure final fit and finish meet luxury quality standards.
  • Collaborate with sourcing, production and gemmology teams to select stones, metals and finishes; ensure designs are costed and manufacturable at target quality levels.
  • Mentor junior designers and drive continuous improvement in CAD workflows, prototype turnaround, and quality control for high-value jewellery.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have (Technical skills & certifications)

  • Proven mastery of Rhino for jewellery CAD modelling
  • Experience with Matrix or RhinoGold CAD plugins
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator for technical flats and artwork
  • Ability to produce photorealistic renders (KeyShot or equivalent)
  • Practical experience with 3D printing and rapid prototyping workflows
  • Strong hand skillswax carving and traditional model finishing
  • Stone setting knowledge across pav, prong, bezel and channel techniques
  • Gemmology awareness or relevant certification (GIA preferred)

Preferred

  • Experience designing for high jewellery collections or bespoke commissions
  • Familiarity with production processes: lost-wax casting and finishing for precious metals
  • Knowledge of jewellery costing and supplier negotiation

Qualifications

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating luxury/bespoke designs and CAD-to-final-piece work.
  • Minimum demonstrable experience designing and delivering pieces for premium markets (portfolio evidence preferred).
  • Comfortable working on-site with production teams in India and aligning designs to manufacturability and quality standards.
