Description and Requirements
1. Strategic Planning & Implementation
. Develop and implement a comprehensive IT infrastructure strategy aligned with business objectives, operational requirements, security standards, and long-term technology roadmap.
. Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of on-premises infrastructure solutions, including migration strategies and hybrid cloud integration with platforms such as AWS and Microsoft Azure.
. Oversee the architecture, implementation, operation, and maintenance of network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN, firewalls, routers, switches, and related network services.
. Manage server environments across physical and virtualisation platforms such as Nutanix, VMware, Hyper-V, and other enterprise infrastructure technologies, ensuring high availability, resilience, and performance.
. Implement and manage enterprise storage solutions, including SAN and NAS, to support business, application, and data requirements.
. Oversee database infrastructure support in collaboration with DBA teams, ensuring data availability, security, backup, performance, and operational stability.
2. Tools Management & Optimisation
Manage, optimise, and continuously improve infrastructure and operations tools, including but not limited to:
. ManageEngine suite, such as ServiceDesk Plus, OpManager, ADManager, etc.
. Datadog monitoring platform
. BMC Helix ITSM suite
. Control-M job scheduling tool
. Splunk log management and analytics platform
. SolarWinds network and infrastructure monitoring tools
. Identity and Access Management tools such as CyberArk and BeyondTrust
. Backup and recovery platforms such as Commvault, Veritas, Cohesity, etc.
. Trend Micro security suite
. AppDynamics application performance monitoring platform
Additional responsibilities:
. Evaluate, recommend, and implement new tools to enhance infrastructure performance, monitoring, security, automation, and operational efficiency.
. Ensure tools are properly configured, integrated, maintained, and aligned with operational processes such as incident, problem, change, capacity, availability, and security management.
. Drive tool rationalisation and automation to reduce manual effort and improve service visibility.
3. Team Leadership & Development
. Lead, manage, and mentor a team of IT infrastructure professionals across infrastructure, network, server, storage, tools, and related operational areas.
. Provide direction, coaching, training, and performance feedback to team members.
. Define clear roles, responsibilities, objectives, and performance expectations for the team.
. Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team culture.
. Support succession planning, skills development, and continuous improvement within the infrastructure team.
4. Operational Excellence
. Ensure the stability, availability, security, and performance of all infrastructure components and services.
. Proactively monitor system health, capacity, performance, and security posture to identify risks and implement preventive measures.
. Establish and maintain operational processes, SOPs, runbooks, escalation procedures, and technical documentation.
. Manage incident resolution, root cause analysis, problem management, and service improvement initiatives.
. Oversee infrastructure capacity planning, lifecycle management, patching, upgrades, obsolescence management, and resilience planning.
. Manage IT infrastructure budgets, procurement activities, vendor relationships, support contracts, and service delivery performance.
. Ensure infrastructure operations comply with internal policies, industry standards, customer requirements, and best practices.
5. Security & Compliance
. Implement and maintain appropriate security controls to protect infrastructure from internal and external threats.
. Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, audit, and security standards such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, and other relevant frameworks.
. Work closely with security teams to address vulnerabilities, audit findings, access control gaps, and infrastructure risks.
. Stay updated on emerging security threats, technology risks, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices.
. Support security reviews, audits, risk assessments, vulnerability remediation, and business continuity requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
. Minimum 8-10 years of IT infrastructure experience, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
. Strong hands-on and management experience in enterprise infrastructure operations.
. Experience managing hybrid environments, including on-premises infrastructure and cloud platforms.
. Familiarity with ITIL processes, especially Incident, Problem, Change, Configuration, Availability, and Capacity Management.
. Experience managing vendors, budgets, audits, compliance activities, and infrastructure transformation initiatives.
Preferred Certifications
- ITIL Foundation or higher
- PMP, CITPM, or equivalent project management certification
- Cloud certification such as AWS, Azure, or equivalent
- Security certification such as CISSP or CISM, would be advantageous
- VMware, Nutanix, Microsoft, Cisco, or related infrastructure certifications would be beneficial.
