Job Description
Key Responsibilities
● Lead and manage the pricing and commercial function for freight forwarding
operations.
● Develop competitive and profitable pricing strategies for Ocean Freight, Air Freight,
and related logistics services.
● Manage customer RFQs, tenders, quotations, and large/key-account pricing
requirements.
● Negotiate competitive rates and commercial terms with shipping lines, airlines,
NVOCCs, transporters, CFS/ICD operators, and other vendors.
● Maintain and manage freight rate sheets, tariffs, surcharges, contracts, and vendor
rate databases.
● Monitor market trends, freight rate movements, competitor pricing, and customer
requirements.
● Work closely with Sales, Business Development, Operations, Finance, and overseas
teams to deliver commercially viable solutions.
● Provide strategic pricing support to the sales team for new business, key accounts,
tenders, and contract negotiations.
● Analyze existing business profitability and identify opportunities for margin
improvement and cost optimization.
● Monitor and control pricing-related margins and ensure alignment with company
profitability objectives.
● Develop and maintain pricing MIS, dashboards, reports, and management
presentations.
● Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, vendors, overseas agents, and
strategic logistics partners.
Required Skills & Experience
● Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Commerce, Business Administration, or
a related discipline.
● 8+ years of relevant experience in Pricing / Commercial functions within Freight
Forwarding, Shipping, or Logistics.
● Strong hands-on experience in Ocean Freight Pricing, preferably with exposure to
FCL/LCL and international trade lanes.
● Exposure to Air Freight, inland transportation, local charges, and end-to-end
logistics pricing will be an advantage.
● Strong understanding of shipping lines, freight markets, surcharges, tariffs, and
logistics cost structures.
● Proven experience in rate negotiation and vendor/carrier management.
● Strong commercial acumen with a clear understanding of revenue, cost, gross profit,
and contribution margins.
● Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
● Strong proficiency in MS Excel, pricing tools, and MIS reporting.
● Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
● Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under tight deadlines.
● Prior experience managing or mentoring a pricing team is preferred.
