This Position reports to:
Manufacturing Unit ManagerYou will lead large teams, drive strong safety culture, manage internal and external stakeholders, ensure compliance with domestic and international logistics regulations, and optimize operational performance aligned with business objectives.
1. Warehouse & Logistics Operations Management
. Lead and manage end-to-end inbound, storage, internal material movement, and outbound logistics operations. Ensure on-time availability of raw materials, components, and finished goods to support production plans.
. Own warehouse layout, space utilization, racking systems, material flow, and handling equipment. Ensure FIFO/FEFO, batch traceability, inventory accuracy, and stock integrity. Manage dispatch planning in line with sales orders, export schedules, and customer commitments.
2. Team Leadership & People Management (60+ Employees)
. Lead large, multi-layered teams including supervisors, warehouse staff, forklift operators, and contract man-power. Drive clear role ownership, shift planning, training, performance management, and succession planning.
. Build a culture of accountability, discipline, safety, and continuous improvement. Collaborate with HR on manpower planning, skill development, compliance, and labor productivity
3. Safety, Health & Compliance (Non-Negotiable Ownership)
. Own warehouse & logistics safety performance - zero harm culture. Ensure adherence to EHS standards, statutory safety norms, and internal safety policies
. Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, toolbox talks, and incident investigations. Ensure contractor safety and compliance across logistics and transport operations
Drive compliance related to:
o Factory Act / labor laws / statutory inspections
o Material handling safety
o Fire & emergency preparedness
4. Stakeholder Management (Critical Capability)
. Act as a single-point interface for logistics-related engagement with:
o Production & Planning - materials availability, line feeding, dispatch priorities (Support)
o Sales & Customer Service - delivery commitments, service level adherence
o Customers & Channel Partners - service performance, escalation handling
o Transporters & 3PL Partners - capacity planning, service quality, cost optimization
o Customs Agents, Freight Forwarders, CHA - import/export execution
. Proactively manage escalations and ensure predictable, transparent communication
5. Export & Import Operations (Strong Hands-On Expertise)
. Manage end-to-end export and import logistics, including:
o Export packing, documentation, shipment planning
o Incoterms understanding and execution
o Import clearance coordination and statutory compliance
. Ensure adherence to customs regulations, DGFT norms, and trade compliance requirements. Coordinate with CHA, freight forwarders, and finance for timely clearance and cost control
6. Transport & Distribution Management
. Plan and manage primary and secondary transportation. Optimize route planning, vehicle utilization, and turnaround time.
. Monitor transporter performance, SLA adherence, and cost structures. Drive transport safety, statutory compliance (Documentations).
7. Inventory, Cost & Productivity Management
. Maintain high inventory accuracy and control slow-moving / obsolete inventory
. Drive warehouse productivity improvements using KPIs such as:
o Picking efficiency
o Dock-to-stock & order fulfillment time
o Labour productivity
. Prepare and manage logistics budgets control warehousing and freight costs. Identify and implement process improvements, & Support team in automation, and digitization topics
8. Systems, Controls & Continuous Improvement
. Ensure effective use of ERP / WMS / TMS systems (SAP SD,MM & WH Modules knowledge is must). Drive standard operating procedures (SOPs) and governance mechanisms
. Lead Kaizen, Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives. Track and present operational KPIs to leadership with corrective actions.

. OTIF (On-Time In-Full) delivery
. Inventory accuracy & stock variance
. Logistics cost as % of sales
. Warehouse & transport safety metrics (zero LTI target)
. Productivity per head / per shift
. Customer service and complaint resolution timelines
. 15-18 years of progressive experience in warehouse & logistics operations
. Mandatory background in manufacturing industry
. Proven experience managing large teams (60+ people)
. Strong exposure to exports, imports, and domestic distribution
. Experience working in multi-stakeholder, matrixed organizations
Education
. Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Operations / Supply Chain / Logistics
. Postgraduate qualification (MBA / PG Diploma in Supply Chain / Logistics) preferred
