Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Linux & VMware Administrator to manage, monitor, troubleshoot, and support enterprise virtualization and Linux infrastructure environments. The role involves working across VMware ESXi, Linux systems, storage, networking, clustering, and performance troubleshooting in production environments. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with Linux administration, VMware virtualization technologies, infrastructure troubleshooting, and cross-domain performance analysis.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer VMware ESXi, vSphere, and enterprise Linux server environments.
  • Perform day-to-day infrastructure operations, monitoring, patching, and performance tuning.
  • Troubleshoot VMware host and VM performance issues using ESXTOP, including CPU, memory, and storage bottlenecks.
  • Diagnose vSphere Client/Web UI issues, hypervisor failures, and infrastructure-related incidents.
  • Monitor and analyze CPU Ready, CPU Wait, Co-Stop, and other virtualization performance metrics.
  • Administer Linux systems using CLI tools and troubleshoot OS-level, process, and resource-related issues.
  • Analyze system logs, crash dumps, and core dumps for root cause identification and system recovery.
  • Configure and troubleshoot storage technologies including NFS, iSCSI, LUN discovery, and shared filesystems.
  • Diagnose storage latency, I/O bottlenecks, and shared storage performance issues across Linux and VMware environments.
  • Configure and troubleshoot Linux networking, VLANs, NIC bonding, MTU/jumbo frames, and network redundancy.
  • Perform Linux kernel-level troubleshooting for system hangs, crashes, memory leaks, and performance bottlenecks using kernel logs, crash dumps, and diagnostic tools.
  • Configure, maintain, and optimize Linux kernel parameters, modules, and system services to improve infrastructure stability and performance.
  • Develop and execute shell/Python scripts for Linux system automation, kernel monitoring, health checks, and operational support tasks.
  • Perform cross-platform troubleshooting involving OS, virtualization, storage, networking, and infrastructure performance.
  • Support Cisco UCS operations and infrastructure automation using APIs and automation tools/frameworks.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • VMware ESXi, vCenter / vSphere, ESXTOP performance troubleshooting, Hypervisor concepts
  • Linux administration (Ubuntu/RHEL/CentOS preferred) , CLI troubleshooting , System logs and crash analysis , Process and performance monitoring
  • NFS, iSCSI, Shared storage concepts, Filesystem troubleshooting
  • TCP/IP fundamentals,,VLANs, MTU/Jumbo Frames, NIC Bonding.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical ability
  • Good communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work in production support environments
  • Ability to handle critical incidents and escalations

Preferred Skills

  • KVM virtualization exposure , GFS2 knowledge , Pacemaker/Corosync clustering
  • Automation/scripting experience
  • Cisco UCS administration
  • Java process troubleshooting

Preferred Certifications

  • RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator)
  • LFCS (Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator)
  • RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer)
