Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Linux Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize our Linux server infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in Linux administration, server management, security hardening, patch management, backup strategies, and virtualization technologies. This role requires strong troubleshooting abilities, excellent documentation practices, and the capability to ensure high availability, security, and performance of enterprise IT infrastructure.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders to support business-critical systems while adhering to operational SLAs and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Linux Server Environment:
• Proven experience as a Linux Administrator, or similar role
• Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat).
• Familiarity with the installation and configuration of web servers (e.g., Apache2, Nginx, Tomcat).
• Familiarity with security tools and protocols (e.g., SELinux, iptables).
• Proficiency in command-line interfaces and shell scripting (e.g., Bash).
• Experience in applying system patches and updates to maintain security and system integrity.
• Solid understanding of Linux file systems and basic networking concepts.
• Develop and implement backup strategies to safeguard critical data.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• RHCE or RHCSA certification is preferred.
Good to have:
• Understanding of various cloud environments, including AWS and Azure.
• Configure / Maintain virtualization platforms – vSphere ESXi, vCenter, Hyper-V and others
General Responsibilities:
• Maintain a definitive library for OS, Applications, product guides, device firmware, etc.
• Maintain and update configuration documents
• Maintain assets and software license/subscriptions
• Vendor coordination and support
• Maintain SLAs and do timely escalations.
• Report all incident/service/change requests in the helpdesk tool.
• Provide after-hour support in case of emergencies and occasional weekend maintenance.
Skills:
• Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat).
• Exceptional organizing and time-management skills
• Very good communication abilities
