Job Description – Line Quality Engineer

Company: East West Lingam Private Limited

Department: Quality Assurance

Reports To: Quality Head / Plant Head

Employment Type: Full-time

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Line Quality Engineer to monitor and ensure product qualityacross our High-Pressure Die Casting (HPDC) and machining production lines. The role isresponsible for in-process inspection, defect control, adherence to quality standards, anddriving continuous improvement on the shop floor.

Qualifications

Education: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (DME) / Bachelor of Engineering (BE) inMechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering

Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment,preferably in pressure die casting or precision machining

Key Skills & Knowledge

Technical Skills

Sound knowledge of Pressure Die Casting (PDC/HPDC) processes, defects, and qualityparameters

Hands-on experience in handling quality instruments and gauges (Vernier, Micrometer,Height Gauge, Bore Gauge, Plug Gauge, Snap Gauge, Profile Projector, etc.)

Basic understanding of calibration procedures and frequency planning for measuringinstruments

Working knowledge of QC tools (7 QC Tools – Pareto, Fishbone, Histogram, ControlCharts, etc.)

Familiarity with Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA) – preferred

System & Standards Awareness

Awareness of ISO 9001, IATF 16949 (TS 16949), and ISO 14001 (EMS) quality andenvironmental management systems

Understanding of documentation, audit readiness, and non-conformance handling

Key Responsibilities

Perform in-process and final inspection of die-cast and machined components as perdrawing and control plan

Monitor and record critical quality parameters on the production line; raise alerts fordeviations

Conduct first-piece, in-process, and patrol inspection at defined frequencies

Identify, segregate, and tag non-conforming products; coordinate with production forrework or rejection

Maintain inspection reports, rejection analysis records, and quality documentation

Support root cause analysis (RCA) and implementation of corrective and preventiveactions (CAPA)

Ensure proper handling, storage, and calibration of measuring instruments and gauges

Coordinate with production, maintenance, and tool room teams to resolve quality issues

Support internal audits, customer audits, and certification audits (ISO / IATF / EMS)

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce rejection, rework, and customercomplaints

Preferred Attributes

Strong observation skills and attention to detail

Good communication and team coordination ability

Willingness to work in shifts on the shop floor

Basic computer skills (MS Excel, Word, ERP entries)

Knowledge of Tamil and English; Hindi a plus
