Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Legal Stenographer role based in Amritsar. The Legal Stenographer will capture and transcribe spoken legal proceedings, meetings, and dictation into accurate written records. Daily responsibilities include real-time stenography during hearings or conferences, preparing and formatting legal documents, and reviewing transcripts for accuracy, grammar, and completeness. The role involves working closely with attorneys to ensure timely delivery of transcripts and legal documentation, organizing and maintaining records, and handling sensitive information with discretion. The Legal Stenographer is expected to meet strict deadlines, follow established legal procedures, and support the firm's documentation and case management needs.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong stenography skills, including real-time shorthand and accurate typing in language English, Hindi and Punjabi
  • Candidates should possess transcription and transcribing skills to convert audio and spoken proceedings into precise written records.
  • Candidates should possess knowledge of law and legal terminology to ensure accurate understanding of proceedings and documents.
  • Candidates should possess experience in legal document preparation, including formatting, proofreading, and organizing case-related documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with transcription software, word processing tools, and basic office applications.
  • Ability to work on-site in Amritsar, manage time effectively, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.
  • Relevant certification or training in stenography or legal transcription; prior experience in a legal setting is an advantage.
