About the Role
We are seeking a Legal Researcher (Freelancer) to support advanced AI evaluation initiatives focused on legal research, case law analysis, statutory interpretation, regulatory review, and legal reasoning.
In this role, you will evaluate AI-generated legal outputs, review legal analyses, assess legal reasoning, and contribute domain expertise to improve AI systems used for legal research, legal intelligence, compliance workflows, and document analysis.
Your work will help ensure that AI-generated legal content is accurate, well-reasoned, and aligned with applicable legal principles and regulatory frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Conduct and evaluate legal research across various areas of law
- Review AI-generated legal analyses, research summaries, and legal memoranda
- Assess AI outputs for legal accuracy, logical reasoning, completeness, and consistency
- Analyze statutes, regulations, case law, legal precedents, and policy documents
- Identify legal risks, factual inaccuracies, reasoning gaps, and interpretation errors in AI-generated content
- Provide structured feedback to improve AI performance in legal research workflows
- Review peer-developed deliverables and contribute to quality assurance processes
- Create sample legal research deliverables based on real-world legal scenarios
- Support projects involving legal research, compliance review, policy analysis, and regulatory interpretation
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Law (LL.B.) or equivalent legal qualification
- 2–7 years of experience in legal research, legal analysis, litigation support, compliance, or related legal functions
- Strong understanding of legal research methodologies, statutory interpretation, and case law analysis
- Experience reviewing legal documents, court judgments, regulations, contracts, or policy materials
- Excellent analytical thinking and attention to detail
- Strong written English communication skills
- Ability to evaluate complex legal content and identify inconsistencies or reasoning issues
- Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with law firms, legal services providers, compliance teams, or corporate legal departments
- Familiarity with legal research tools such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, SCC Online, Manupatra, HeinOnline, or similar platforms
- Exposure to regulatory research, compliance analysis, corporate law, litigation, or contract law
- Experience reviewing legal content for publication, research, or advisory purposes
- Familiarity with AI-assisted legal research tools is a plus
