Lead a team of 10+ legal professionals within CLG and manage assigned workstreams worldwide across HCLTech's procurement and treasury legal function, covering technology, business services and treasury contracting portfolios. Provide hands-on negotiation and escalation support, safeguard HCLTech's interests, ensure adherence to delegated authority and approval requirements, and drive timely, consistent and audit-ready procurement contract delivery. This role does not encompass end customer contracting scope.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and mentor a large team legal professional; allocate matters, balance capacity, set priorities, review drafting quality, manage performance and career development, and build workstream expertise and backup coverage.

• Lead drafting and negotiation of MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, SaaS/cloud and software licenses, hardware, telecom, managed services and professional/business services contracts within CLG scope.

•Review banking, treasury, credit facility, guarantee, supply-chain financing and receivables arrangements; coordinate commercial, financial and tax inputs with the respective owners.

•Support renewable/non-renewable power purchase arrangements; coordinate local-law advice and technical/commercial validation.

•Negotiate liability, indemnities, warranties, IP, confidentiality, SLAs, payment, renewal and exit protections; document deviations and obtain approvals under the applicable DoA before execution.

•Coordinate privacy, information security, IP, insurance and Responsible AI inputs; incorporate appropriate data-processing, cross-border transfer, security, audit and AI safeguards into vendor contracts.

•Address contractual compliance requirements, including anti-bribery, sanctions and export controls, in consultation with specialist teams; escalate regulatory issues and non-standard commitments.

•Oversee legal review-to-signature workflows, CWID allocation/tracking, renewals, amendments and innovations; confirm contracting entities, signatory authority and retention of executed records.

• Drive legal adoption and enhancement of CLM/Ariba and approved AI tools with GPS and technology teams; improve templates, clause libraries, workflows and analytics with confidentiality controls.

•Maintain SOPs, playbooks, trackers and knowledge repositories; monitor and report KPIs, including turnaround, ageing, deviation rates and bottlenecks, support audit evidence and remediation, and deliver practical stakeholder training.

• Act as the escalation point for assigned matters, resolving issues within delegated authority and escalating non-standard risks and deviations to the CLG Lead and senior stakeholders as required.

•Coordinate cross-border vendor transitions and assigned strategic projects; manage external counsel scope, costs and advice, and support claims, disputes and regulatory matters with specialist legal teams.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

• Qualified lawyer (LL.B., enrolled to practice) with 10+ years of relevant commercial/procurement legal experience in a global IT/ITeS environment, including leadership of a team of 10+ legal professionals.

•Strong hands-on experience in technology procurement, SaaS/cloud, managed services and business services; exposure to banking/treasury and cross-border vendor transitions.

•Practical experience with CLM/Ariba, contract repositories and legal-process improvement; ability to evaluate and use approved AI tools with appropriate governance.

•Working knowledge of power purchase arrangements, applicable privacy and data protection laws (including GDPR and DPDPA), information security, IP, insurance and export controls; sound judgement on specialist referrals.

•Strong drafting, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills; ability to explain risks, recommend workable mitigations and prepare concise escalation and approval notes.

•Structured and process-oriented, with experience in DoA/deviation approvals, execution controls, audit readiness and managing high-volume matters across multiple jurisdictions, coordinating with regional legal teams and local counsel where required.

•Commercially pragmatic people leader with proven people-management skills in a large legal team (10+ members), who coaches, delegates, manages performance, develops talent and priorities effectively, balancing timely business support with legal quality and governance discipline.
