Job Description
We are seeking a commercially sharp, aggressive, and solution-oriented Head of Legal to build and lead Melhor Group's legal function from our Goa office. This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the Managing Director, with full ownership of land acquisition, RERA, litigation, and commercial contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complete legal workstream for land acquisition across residential, commercial, hospitality, and strategic projects
- Conduct end-to-end title due diligence — ownership chain, survey plans, mutation entries, Form I XIV, sanad, conversion sanad, encumbrances, and live disputes
- Draft and execute Sale Deeds, Development Agreements, Joint Venture Agreements, MoUs, Powers of Attorney, Lease Deeds, and Conveyance Deeds
- Own all RERA registration, project amendments, extension applications, quarterly filings, and buyer complaint defence
- Handle all litigation through panel advocates — Civil Courts, High Court, Consumer Forums, RERA, NCLT, Labour Court, Police, and Revenue Authorities
- Draft, review, and negotiate contractor, vendor, employment, broker, NDA, lease, investment, and shareholder agreements
- Coordinate with CS, CA, and Finance teams on ROC matters, board resolutions, restructuring, and investment transactions
- Support HR on misconduct, notice recovery, POSH matters, labour contractor disputes, and terminations
- Drive aggressive recovery of outstanding dues and prevent fraud, misuse, and forged documentation
- Build and lead the legal department from Goa — hire, train, and manage in-house team and panel advocates
Work Location: This role is strictly Goa office-based. No WFH or remote. Candidate must be available for physical meetings, site visits, authority visits, and urgent matters within Goa.

Qualifications
- LL.B mandatory; LL.M preferred
- 10+ years of post-qualification legal experience
- Minimum 5+ years in Real Estate, Construction, or Hospitality sector (mandatory)
- Strong, demonstrable experience in Goa land matters — Form I XIV, sanad, conversion, mutation, and Portuguese-era title records (mandatory)
- Proven experience in land acquisition transactions of meaningful scale (mandatory)
- Prior experience handling RERA extension matters preferred
- English — strong drafting and communication (mandatory); Hindi — working proficiency; Konkani — preferred and strongly advantageous
