Job Description

Specific Roles and Responsibilities:

Legal Strategy and Advisory

Risk Identification:

Identify and consult on legal risks in connection with any external partnerships, development of new products, regulatory, data security and privacy, intellectual property requirements and any other matters as needed.

Deal Negotiation:

Lead strategic deals, resolve issues on real time basis - that arise in existing commercial relationships, and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries

Agreements and Contracts:

Draft, review, negotiate and advise internal stakeholders and negotiate with external counterparts on a variety of commercial agreements, including automotive supply agreements, operations agreements, services agreements, partnerships, marketing agreements, etc.

External Counsel Management:

Liaise with specialist external counsel in relation to original new products, expansion into new market verticals, areas relating to compliance, privacy, or security and any other matters as needed.

Policies and Procedures:

Review and drive compliance of legally required policies (e.g. Code of Ethics, Anti-corruption). Manage fraud reporting and whistleblower policies and procedures.

Data Protection:

Strong understanding and appreciation of data protection regulations including GDPR. Advisory to Data Security teams as needed on data related legal risks.

Qualifications

BA. LLB. Hons/ LLB/ LLM from a reputed law school/ university

Reporting: Director, Legal with dotted line to the GC

Experience:

  • Excellent academic credentials
  • 10 to 14 years of experience as an in-house counsel along with experience at a top tier law firm, with specific experience in Indian Companies Act, corporate commercial matters, complex contracting, sourcing strategies, supply chain issues and complex contractual drafting and negotiations.
  • Experience working in or advising in the automotive sector would be preferred
  • Breadth of legal expertise and understanding of wide variety of laws applicable to automotive, electric and renewable sectors
  • Preferable exposure to corporate commercial areas, if candidate has in-house experience
  • Experience in dealing with and resolving litigation, including consumer litigations
