Legal Counsel

Location: JSW Vijaynagar Works, Toranagallu, Ballari Dt., Karnataka (on site, full time)

Experience: 2 to 5 years PQE

Proficiency in Kannada Mandatory

Key Responsibilities:

Litigation:

- Engage in high-stakes litigation across diverse areas, ensuring the organization's interests are well-represented.

- Assist in preparing strategies, carrying out detailed legal research, and drafting required documentation.

- Collaborate with legal managers to brief counsels and coordinate with AoRs and external advocates.

- Maintain an up-to-date litigation database, including an online litigation management tool.

Contracts:

- Handle a wide array of contracts and agreements, safeguarding the organization's interests.

- Work seamlessly through the online Contract Life Cycle Management tool to review, negotiate, and finalize contracts.

Statutory Compliance:

- Oversee and monitor statutory compliance for the unit/business functions.

- Develop and implement comprehensive compliance management systems to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.

Non-Litigation:

- Protect the organization's interests in land and immovable property-related matters.

- Stay updated on legal developments and advise the business on the impact of changing laws.

- Conduct research on electricity, mining, insolvency, maritime, and criminal laws, providing well-reasoned opinions and notes to the business team.

Qualifications & Competencies:

Education: Five-year integrated law graduate from a premier Indian university.

Proficiency in Kannada (read, write, and speak) is Mandatory.

Skills: Exceptional communication skills (written and oral), ability to handle diverse work under tight deadlines, and a team-player mindset.

Personal Traits: Self-motivated, adaptable, and keen to learn and grow in a dynamic legal environment.
