Job Description

Legal Counsel – Governance – 12 Month contract

Role Overview

Elevate has partnered with a Global financial institution and is seeking a legal professional in Singapore to provide advisory support within its corporate and institutional banking business.

The role involves partnering closely with business and risk teams to facilitate transactions, support strategic initiatives, and ensure alignment with legal and regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice on banking and financing matters, including lending and client-related activities.
  • Review and support structuring of transactional documentation and cross-border engagements.
  • Partner with business, credit, and compliance teams on legal and risk considerations.
  • Contribute to initiatives involving digital, data, and business transformation.
  • Identify and help manage legal, regulatory, and operational risks.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Qualified lawyer with 5-8 years of post-qualification experience (PQE).
  • Experience in banking, finance, or management a regulated financial services environment.
  • Understanding of lending, transactions, and associated legal risks.
  • Strong commercial judgment with the ability to balance business and compliance needs.
  • Good stakeholder and cross-functional collaboration skills.
