Position: Legal Associate
Organization: Seven Islands Shipping Ltd.
Function: Legal & Compliance
Location: Head Office – Andheri Marol, Mumbai
Reporting Manager: Head Legal and Compliance
Primary Purpose: To manage both Litigation and Non-Litigation work for the Company and its group.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
I. Litigation Management:
· Assist in Civil and Criminal cases, and Arbitration.
· Vetting and timely filing of pleadings in Courts / Tribunals / Fora / Authorities.
· Maintain and circulate MIS for legal cases in a timely manner.
II. Non-Litigation:
· Draft and review various legal documents, including but not limited to:
o Agreements
o Memorandum of Understanding
o Lease Deeds, Trust Deeds, Letters of Intent
o Service Level Contracts, IT Contracts, Marketing Contracts, Admin Contracts
o Outsourcing Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements, Power of Attorneys
o Notices and documentation for Admin / IT / HR / Marketing / Projects vendor transactions
o Corporate policies and procedures including policies for Maritime training institute
· Conduct primary Due Diligence including title searches for property transactions (sale, purchase, acquisition, or lease), assist in the transaction, registration and other formalities to effectuate the transfer.
· Applying for intellectual property rights
· Research on the applicability of specific laws, circulars, notifications, policies, and case laws.
III. Maritime:
· Application to MMD for registration related matters of the vessel
· Assistance in transactional documentation such as sale and purchase of vessels, importation/exportation etc.
Work Relations: Internal & External:
· Interface with other departments within the Company as needed.
· Coordinate with External Vendors/Legal Agencies for contract execution and legal obligations
Educational Qualifications:
· A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) is required.
Experience:
· A minimum of 3-4 years of relevant experience is required.
CTC: Competitive, based on experience.
