Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced
Lead Technical Writer with strong engineering fundamentals and advanced technical writing skills to produce highquality documentation for electromechanical, hardware, and software products. The role requires handson authoring, crossfunctional collaboration, and leadership in documentation strategy, quality, and process excellence across geographies.
Key Responsibilities
Content Development
- Be fully handson in creating highquality documentation and delivering it to project teams within agreed timelines.
- Develop endtoend customer documentation including installation guides, user manuals, configuration guides, system guides and so on.
- Interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, UI wireframes, and product designs to create accurate, userfocused content.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, structured, and accessible documentation.
- Ensure all documentation complies with Schneider Electric standards, safety guidelines (ANSI/ISO), and regulatory requirements.
Technical Framework & Tools
- Create and maintain modular, topicbased content using DITA.
- Author content using Arbortext Editor or equivalent XML authoring tools.
- Manage content lifecycle within enterprise Content Management Systems (CMS).
- Use Adobe InDesign for layoutdriven documentation when required.
- Work closely with illustrators to develop productaccurate diagrams and visuals.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Engage with stakeholders across global engineering, product management, software teams, UI/UX, test teams, and marketing.
- Lead documentation planning for new products/features and coordinate delivery with project milestones.
- Mentor and guide technical writers on best practices, structure, clarity, and standardization.
- Drive consistency in terminology, style, taxonomy, and DITA reuse strategies across the documentation ecosystem.
- Work closely with translation teams and ensure content is localizationready for multiple geographies.
Quality & Processes
- Conduct SME reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and integrate documentation activities into sprints.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in automation, content reuse, and digital documentation.
- Publish content for both online and print channels.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Certification in Technical Writing - holding a recognized industry certification (e.g., tekom, STC, or equivalent).
- 8+ years of experience in technical writing, with strong exposure to hardware + software documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and UI wireframes.
- Handson experience with:
- DITA
- Arbortext Editor or other XML authoring tools
- Content Management Systems (CMS)
- Adobe InDesign
- Strong English writing and communication skills.
- Experience collaborating with global teams across time zones.
- Understanding of localization/translation workflows and geospecific documentation needs.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electromechanical systems and home automation products.
- Exposure to digital documentation formats such as HTML5 responsive outputs.
- Familiarity with UX writing principles.
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
