About The Role

The Lead Technical Specialist is responsible for providing hands-on technical leadership across the design, development, delivery, and ongoing maintenance of technology solutions. This role focuses on guiding engineering teams through complex technical challenges, ensuring solutions are aligned with business objectives, and driving high-quality outcomes through strong engineering practices.

The Lead Technical Specialist collaborates closely with product, business, and engineering stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical designs, contribute to accurate effort estimations, and ensure technical excellence throughout the development lifecycle. The role also involves proactively identifying technical risks, improving system performance and scalability, and upholding quality standards through best practices and technical governance.

A strong hands-on development background is essential to understand solution requirements, mentor engineers, perform code reviews, and lead the implementation of innovative, scalable solutions that meet both business and client needs.

What You'll Do

  • Design, develop, and review software solutions using established coding standards, documentation practices, and configuration management techniques
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams across the full software development lifecycle
  • Work within an agile delivery model to design, test, and implement effective development methodologies
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and team members to estimate development effort for user stories and features
  • Deliver ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements for existing systems and platforms, with a focus on improving quality and performance
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams, including business, product, and engineering colleagues, to deliver robust and elegant solutions
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in design, development processes, tooling, and practices
  • Support Service Delivery and Production Support teams by troubleshooting and resolving complex production issues
  • Lead by example to create a psychologically safe team environment where ideas, questions, and challenges are openly shared
  • Establish and enforce best practices such as code reviews, technical standards, and knowledge sharing

To be successful in this role, your background and experience will include:

  • B.E./B.Tech/MCA with 8+ years of relevant software development experience
  • Experience in the financial services, wealth management, or insurance domain is preferred
  • Strong coding experience in Java, SQL, Microservices architecture, front-end skills
  • Prior team management experience is a MUST.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders - extremely important.
  • Strong experience in Agile project management methodologies
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional technical teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in defining and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Experience in capacity planning and resource management.
  • Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Knowledge of budgeting and financial management in project delivery.
  • Familiarity with performance metrics and reporting tools.
