About The Role
At Origin, we're building intelligent robotic systems that operate in the real world — and that starts with building an exceptional team. We're looking for a Lead Technical Recruiter who thrives in the deep end: someone who can hold a credible conversation about diffusion models, ROS2, and embedded control systems, and then turn that understanding into a targeted, high-quality talent pipeline.
This is a high-ownership role. You'll partner directly with engineering leads and founders to hire across a range of specialised functions — AI/ML, Robotics, Perception, Embedded Systems, and Backend Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Talent Sourcing & Recruitment:
- Own full-cycle recruiting for senior and specialist roles across AI/ML, Robotics, Embedded Systems, Perception, and Backend Engineering
- Proactively source passive candidates via LinkedIn Recruiter, Naukri, Instahyre, GitHub, and research lab networks
- Partner with hiring managers to deeply understand role requirements and calibrate on candidate profiles before sourcing begins
- Candidate Relationship Management:
- Screen candidates with enough technical literacy to assess fitment independently — reducing noise for the engineering team
- Manage end-to-end interview pipelines on Workable and drive offer negotiations, including ESOP conversations
- Agency Management : Manage external agencies and vendors, holding them accountable to sourcing quality over volume
- Analytics: Track recruiting metrics (pipeline health, source quality, time-to-offer) and use data to improve continuously
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Previously worked at a Seed/Series A startup as a TA
- 4-6 years of technical recruiting experience, with a significant portion of hiring for AI/ML, robotics, embedded systems, or adjacent deep-tech domains
- A bachelor's Degree in Tech/Engineering or a relevant stream is a big plus
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Proven ability to source and close passive candidates in niche engineering disciplines
- Technical literacy sufficient to evaluate a resume and conduct a first-level screen without a hiring manager present
- Hands-on experience with LinkedIn Recruiter, Naukri, Instahyre, and an ATS (Workable preferred)
- Strong communicator, able to represent Origin credibly to senior engineers and researchers
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, early-stage environment with high ownership and shifting priorities
- Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to drive decision-making and process improvements
Preferred Experiences
- Prior in-house recruiting at a deep-tech startup, robotics company, or AI research lab
- Familiarity with roles involving ROS/ROS2, PyTorch, SLAM, and computer vision
- Experience building recruiting processes — structured interviews, scorecards, sourcing playbooks
- Exposure to academic hiring pipelines: IITs, IISc, IIIT-H, and equivalent institutions
- Prior experience managing external recruitment vendors, including setting SLAs and evaluating output quality
