The Impact you will have in this role:

We are seeking an experienced IBM MQ Administrator / Lead MQ Systems Engineer with strong cloud and container platform experience to help modernize our enterprise messaging platform. In this role, you will drive the adoption of containerization, automation, and cloud native architectures, ensuring our messaging services are resilient, secure, and scalable. You will work closely with application teams, platform partners, and operations to deliver highly available and performant messaging solutions aligned with business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and manage IBM MQ queue managers in high availability and disaster recovery configurations
  • Deploy and operate IBM MQ and IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) across AWS cloud and OpenShift container platforms
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and MQ deployments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Chef, and Ansible
  • Integrate MQ build, deployment, and configuration workflows into CI/CD pipelines
  • Monitor, tune, and optimize MQ performance using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and MeshIQ (APM6)
  • Troubleshoot messaging, connectivity, and performance issues across hybrid and cloud environments
  • Implement and manage MQ security controls, including TLS/SSL, CHLAUTH, and LDAP integration
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and procedures support transition to operations teams

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 years of related experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience

Talents Needed for Success:

  • 6+ years of hands on IBM MQ administration experience
  • Strong expertise in queue managers, channels, clustering, and HA/DR architectures
  • Experience operating containerized messaging platforms in OpenShift/Kubernetes, cloud, or hybrid environments
  • Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools such as Chef and Ansible
  • Solid background in Linux/Unix operating systems
  • Exposure to MQ Internet Pass Thru (MQ IPT), and App Connect Enterprise (ACE) is a plus
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash) experience with C/C++ or Java is a plus
  • Cloud and/or container certifications preferred but not required
  • Working knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) concepts, including observability, SLAs, and SLOs
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to drive outcomes with minimal oversight
