About Astrobase Space Technologies
Astrobase is a pioneering spacetech startup founded by prominent Senior ISRO scientists and IIT Bombay alumni with over 20 years of experience in designing, manufacturing, testing and flying advanced Cryogenic Launch Vehicles. Key Responsibilities
- Lead Stage Functional Mechanical System design, realization and testing for LOX/Methane launch vehicle stages.
- Design & realization of functional mechanical systems of liquid propellant stage including fill & drain, feed, pressurization, vent & relief, POGO, slosh systems in accordance with input specifications from fluid system designers.
- Design & realization of various structural assemblies required for mounting, handling of stage components including valves, avionic packages, umbilical systems
- Interface structural and fluid system analysis teams to mature the design for development
- Interface with vehicle mechanical design team and identify interfaces for stage systems
- Interface with assembly & integration teams and perform developmental testing
- Interface with vehicle teams and realize the sub-systems required for fully functional stage and vehicle operation.
- Documentation of the designs and preparations of input documents for execution at various stages of system development
Desired Skills And Qualifications
- Master's or bachelor's degree in mechanical/aerospace engineering (preferred specialization in propulsion, fluid systems, or structural mechanics).
- 5–10 years of hands-on experience in mechanical system design and integration for aerospace or launch vehicle projects.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAE tools (CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of fluid system design and analysis tools (ANSYS Fluent, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with structural analysis software (ANSYS, NASTRAN, Abaqus).
- Understanding of cryogenic fluid behavior, slosh dynamics, pogo oscillations, and mitigation techniques.
- Knowledge of QA/QC standards, aerospace material testing, and verification protocols.
- Direct involvement in liquid propulsion systems (LOX/Methane or similar cryogenic propellants).
- Proven track record in design, realization, and testing of stage-level mechanical systems (fill & drain, feed, pressurization, vent/relief, pogo suppression, slosh control).
- Experience in structural assemblies for mounting valves, avionics, and umbilical systems.
