Position: Lead/Sr Network Ops Engineer

Experience Level: 5-15 Years

Summary

The Lead Network Operations Engineer is responsible for supporting network infrastructure including WAN, MAN, LAN, WLAN, Cisco ACI, Load Balancing, Firewall and Proxy components, Bluecat DNS and associated monitoring tools.

Major Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and advanced infrastructure network implementation, maintenance and support activities
  • Provide peer reviews to other engineers for day to day implementations
  • Analyze, isolate and resolve network issues for internal and external constituents including technical, procedural, operation and functional issues
  • Maintain network security and ensures compliance with security policies and procedures when implementing changes
  • Work with third party providers to ensure accuracy of network monitoring and reporting
  • Manage day to day responsibilities in supporting LAN/MAN/WAN/WLAN, Cisco ACI, firewalls, proxies, load-balancers, DNS, etc
  • Support of the network infrastructure by analyzing the environment and infrastructure, using various monitoring tools and packet trace analysis.
  • Maintain and continually optimize various network infrastrcuture, including DNS (BlueCat) and monitoring tools (Extrahop, OpsRamp, Splunk, Solarwinds, BackBox, etc)
  • Escalate to Operations Line Manager and/or Engineering team for production issues where appropriate
  • Participates in a 24/7/365 weekly on-call rotation
  • Creates and maintains written documentation and diagrams for supported systems
  • Help to drive network improvements and standardization for the network environments in both the Data Centers, Campus and Remote Branch Offices

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical or engineering, or computer science or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience supporting computer networks in a mission-critical environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment supporting real-time market data and trading.
  • Certification and/or training with vendor-neutral or vendor-specific focus.
  • Basic understanding of operating system administration (Windows and Linux).
  • Basic scripting and automation.
  • Organized and methodical testing skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
