The position is responsible for implementing and driving EHS practices at site, ensuring compliance with statutory and organizational standards. The role focuses on risk management, incident prevention, contractor safety, and building a strong safety culture through effective shopfloor engagement. as well This position bridges strategic EHS frameworks with practical execution, supporting fatality free operation.

Job Description

Job Purpose

To drive effective implementation of Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) systems at the site by ensuring compliance with legal, organizational, and customer requirements, while building a strong safety culture across employees and contractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable statutory regulations and company EHS standards

  • Implement and sustain EHS policies, procedures, and safe operating practices
  • Conduct Hazard Identification & Risk Assessments (HIRA/JSA) for all activities

  • Drive implementation of control measures and monitor effectiveness

  • Support Safety Management systems including:
    • LOTO

    • Work Permit System (Hot work, confined space, height, electrical)

    • Chemical safety & MSDS management

    • Lead incident/accident investigations using RCA techniques

    • Ensure contractor safety management including onboarding, training & compliance

    • Conduct regular shopfloor safety inspections and behavioural observations

    • Plan and deliver EHS training programs for employees and contractors

    • Ensure availability and readiness of firefighting systems and equipment

    • Track and report key EHS KPIs (I&I, near miss, audits, unsafe acts)

    • Conduct internal audits and support external/customer audits

    • Ensure compliance with environmental norms (waste, emissions, water)

    • Monitor hazardous waste handling and disposal

    • Support sustainability and ESG, CSR initiatives

    • Drive cross-functional ownership of safety

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical / Electrical)

    • Post Diploma in Industry Safety is required

    • Courses about ESG, Sustainability etc

    • Additional qualification CSP, NEBOSH preferable

    Experience

    • 815 years of EHS experience in manufacturing electrical / heavy industry / engineering / process plant

    • Hands-on experience in shopfloor safety management and contractor safety

    Functional & Behavioral Skills

    • Strong knowledge of Indian statutory EHS regulations

    • Master's degree in Environment Health and Safety is desired

    • Experience in risk assessment, audits, and incident investigation

    • Data analysis and reporting skills

    • Effective communication and presentation ability

    • High ownership and accountability
