About HealthEdge
HealthEdge is a leading healthcare SaaS company delivering modern, cloud-native solutions that transform how health plans operate. With a global workforce spanning the US, India, Philippines, Mexico, and the UK, our Business Technology team powers the tools and platforms that keep HealthEdge running at scale. Atlassian – Jira Software, Jira Service Management, and Confluence – is the connective tissue of how work gets planned, tracked, and executed across the entire organization.
Role Overview
The Atlassian Architect is the highest-level individual contributor on the Atlassian Products team, responsible for defining platform architecture, setting technical standards, and solving the most complex problems in HealthEdge's Atlassian environment. This is not an administration role – it is a design and engineering role. You will own the decisions that shape how the platform is built, governed, and extended, and your work will directly influence how thousands of employees across the company plan, collaborate, and deliver. As HealthEdge moves fully to Atlassian Cloud Enterprise, the Architect will also shape the platform's AI readiness — ensuring the architecture supports Atlassian Intelligence and Rovo at enterprise scale.
You will serve as the technical authority for the Atlassian Products team – providing architectural guidance, mentoring Senior and regular Administrators, leading complex solution delivery, and acting as the primary point of escalation for problems that require deep platform expertise. You will also own strategic initiatives including instance governance, automation frameworks, API integrations, and migration or consolidation efforts.
What You'll Do
Platform Architecture & Standards
- Own the Atlassian platform architecture across Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence, and Atlassian Access – defining how these tools are structured, governed, and extended at scale
- Establish and maintain technical standards for project design, workflow architecture, permission models, field configuration, and Confluence space taxonomy across the organization
- Design scalable, maintainable solutions that balance user needs with platform health – avoiding configuration sprawl and technical debt
- Evaluate new Atlassian capabilities, product roadmap changes, and Marketplace apps – assessing fit, risk, and adoption strategy
- Produce and maintain architectural documentation including design decisions, standards references, and solution blueprints complex Solution Design & Delivery
- Lead discovery and solution design for the most complex stakeholder requests – those that require cross-project thinking, advanced automation, or architectural changes
- Translate ambiguous business requirements from engineering, IT, product, and business functions into well-structured, scalable Atlassian solutions
- Deliver end-to-end implementation of high-complexity configurations, including multi-project workflow frameworks, advanced JSM service architectures, and cross-tool integrations
- Partner with the Manager, Atlassian Products to define and manage the platform improvement roadmap, sequencing initiatives by impact and feasibility
Automation & Scripting
- Design and implement advanced automation frameworks using native Jira/JSM automation and ScriptRunner (Groovy) for complex workflow logic, validators, post-functions, and listeners
- Build and maintain REST API integrations between Atlassian tools and external systems including identity platforms, ITSM tools, and business applications
- Establish automation standards and reusable patterns that the broader admin team can follow and extend
- Review and quality-assure automation and scripting work produced by Senior Administrators, providing technical guidance and improvement feedback
Migrations & Consolidations
- Lead or architect Atlassian migration and consolidation projects, including instance-to-instance migrations, Server/Data Center to Cloud transitions, and post-merger platform integrations
- Perform pre-migration assessments including configuration audits, data mapping, and risk analysis
- Design migration runbooks and execute or oversee technical migration steps with appropriate rollback planning
- Ensure data integrity, permission continuity, and minimal disruption to end users throughout migration events
Enterprise Governance & Security
- Own Atlassian Access configuration including SSO, SCIM provisioning, authentication policies, IP allowlisting, and audit log management
- Design and enforce the organization-wide governance model for Atlassian – covering project creation standards, permission scheme governance, license management, and app approval processes
- Lead license optimization efforts, identifying consolidation opportunities and ensuring spend is aligned with actual usage
- Support security and compliance requirements including access reviews, data residency considerations, and audit evidence related to Atlassian platforms
- Serve as the technical lead for any Atlassian-related security incidents, misconfigurations, or compliance findings
Team Mentorship & Technical Leadership
- Serve as the informal technical lead for the Atlassian Products team – the person Senior and regular Administrators bring their hardest problems to
- Mentor Senior Administrators on advanced configuration, automation, and solution design, actively developing their technical depth
- Conduct technical design reviews for significant platform changes proposed by team members
- Contribute to hiring by participating in technical assessments for Atlassian Administrator and Senior Administrator candidates
- Represent the Atlassian Products team in cross-functional technical forums and architecture discussions
