Lead Software Integration Engineer

Position Summary

The Senior Software Integration Engineer will join our Software organization to develop new features of our next generation Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) product suite.

As a Scrum team member, the Senior Software Integration Engineer must become familiar with system requirements and behavior, modify/ develop software, and write and execute performance test plans. The candidate must also troubleshoot hardware, network, and software issues. This position will require the candidate to interact with other groups in the Engineering department, including fellow software development teams, software architects and integration/validation teams. The Senior Software Integration engineer is responsible for delivering features as part of the software release to the verification/validation teams while meeting schedule milestones and quality objectives.

Essential Functions / Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Integrate end-to-end systems to validate software, system and/or third-party deliveries [15%]

  • Troubleshoot Android framework services and C++/Java on server-side Linux based systems [15%]

  • Define and execute various system and software performance test plans [15%]

  • Drive resolution of software issues found during the software test and integration phase [10%]

  • Propose and deploy improvements on software processes, tools and product to increase efficiency and performance [10%]

  • Develop internal tools or use industry tools to capture and analyze system performance metrics [10%]

  • Analyze root causes of complex hardware or network Issues [10%]

  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators on progress and performance. Create reports and lead presentations to management and stakeholders [5%]

  • Participate in technical discussions and agile ceremonies (daily stand-up meetings, sprint retrospectives and sprint planning meetings) [5%]

  • Mentor and train team members on technical concepts and department processes [5%]

Minimum Requirements: Skills, Experience, Education, Technical/Specialized Knowledge, Certifications, Language

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field with 8+ years experience, or Master's degree in field with 8 to 12 years of experience

  • 8+ years of knowledge/experience in Linux, Networking, and Scripting

  • 8+ years of Java or C++

  • Familiar with test principles, including functional testing, performance testing, stress testing, endurance testing, recovery testing, ad hoc testing, etc.

  • Skilled with performing troubleshooting on software & hardware

  • Knowledgeable with networking, TCP/IP, VLAN,

  • Self-motivated, critical thinker with strong technical background

  • Additional key competencies include decision-making, planning and organizing, problem analysis and problem solving, teamwork and adaptability

  • Ability to make decisions, solve complex problems and work independently

  • Ability to communicate with fellow team members and team members from other teams(project managers, testing team and stakeholders)

  • Written communication skills to clearly summarize technical issues and describe analysis

  • Data driven, familiar with managing Key Performance Indicators to drive improvements

  • Background of teaching/mentoring team members

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience debugging on Linux and/or Android based systems

  • Development or testing experience with Bluetooth and/or Wifi devices

  • Experience in IFE

  • Experience with test automation design and implementation

  • Knowledge of Agile and common tools (JIRA, Confluence)

  • Experience in media streaming (rtsp, hls, dash)

  • Experience in network protocols (tcp/udp/rtp)
