Job Description

  • Primary Responsibilities:
  • Technical Leadership:
  • Lead NPI (New Product Introduction) development projects for embedded software, including:
  • Software Requirements: Ensure completeness and traceability of software requirements.
  • Architecture & Design: Lead design and architecture decisions for product development.
  • Coding & End-to-End Delivery: Oversee coding activities and manage the delivery lifecycle, ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Field & Application Support:
  • Provide technical support for products through field investigations, application support, and factory support.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and ensure product readiness.
  • Certification & Compliance:
  • Ensure all development activities align with FAA/EASA safety and certification requirements.
  • Lead efforts to meet safety-critical standards, such as DO-178B/C, DO-326A, and DO-355.
  • Collaboration & Growth:
  • Engage with business partners and contribute to business growth by identifying opportunities for product improvements and innovations.
  • Act as a technology leader, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to shape Honeywell's product and technology strategy.
  • Contribute to product differentiation strategies and sustainable growth through competitive technology and business initiatives.
  • Team Mentorship & Development:
  • Provide technical mentoring to junior engineers.
  • Guide the team towards achieving STRAP priorities and align efforts with business objectives.
  • Strategic Responsibilities:
  • Lead technical contributions to the STRAP, GSF, and PAC.
  • Promote innovation within teams and collaborate on regional initiatives to advance Honeywell's market position.
  • Qualifications & Experience:
  • Required:
  • BE/B.Tech or M.E/M.Tech in Aerospace, Electronics, Computer Science, or a related field with 12+ years of experience in building and certifying products in aerospace or similar safety-critical industries.
  • Strong experience in leading technical design and architecture for product development, including the ability to guide and influence technical proposals.
  • Expertise in DO-178B/C certification and software versioning control.
  • Experience in hardware/software integration and managing product development from concept to delivery.
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Desired:
  • Experience in safety-critical applications within the CNS domain or Aerospace industry.
  • Advanced knowledge of product algorithms, with hands-on experience in system-level integration and software architecture.
  • Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle, software configuration management, and change management practices.
  • Strong background in leading cross-disciplinary teams and providing technical leadership to complex, global projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and introduce new competitive features into products by leveraging competitive intelligence.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard tools and processes for Agile development, DevSecOps, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).
  • Key Responsibilities in Product Development:
  • NPI (New Product Introduction):
  • Evaluate & Recommend Technologies: Suggest suitable technologies and contribute to decisions related to technology selection and product innovation.
  • Collaborate with Chief Engineers/Fellows: Act as the interface between HTS and Honeywell's top engineers, influencing technical decisions for the product line.
  • Proposal Authorship: Lead or co-author multiple project proposals for funding, driving key decisions in product development.
  • Product Technical Leadership:
  • Lead Product Technical Council: Be the technical decision-maker during PDR (Preliminary Design Review), CDR (Critical Design Review), and other compliance reviews.
  • Strategic Technical Contributions: Contribute to shaping strategic direction by providing inputs into STRAP, GSF, and PAC.
  • Competitive Intelligence: Lead the creation of competitive intelligence by identifying industry gaps and innovating new features to make Honeywell products competitive.
  • Process Management & Best Practices:
  • Manage Common Processes: Lead the adoption of industry best practices and implement innovative solutions to elevate product quality.
  • Driving Operational Efficiency: Optimize development processes through collaboration, technical expertise, and applying state-of-the-art solutions.
  • Key Skills & Competencies:
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Embedded Software Development: Strong expertise in embedded systems and safety-critical applications, including real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Software Architecture: Deep experience in system-level software architecture, including design patterns, algorithms, and software integration.
  • Certification Knowledge: In-depth understanding of DO-178B/C, DO-254, and safety-critical certification processes.
  • Leadership & Collaboration:
  • Cross-Disciplinary Leadership: Proven experience in leading cross-functional teams spread across different sites and geographies.
  • Mentorship & Knowledge Transfer: Ability to mentor junior engineers, guide their growth, and shape a collaborative work culture.
  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to manage relationships with key stakeholders and contribute to business growth.
  • Strategic & Innovative Thinking:
  • Strategic Vision: Ability to drive strategic initiatives, shape product roadmaps, and identify future technology trends.
