Lead Software Engineer
Job Description
Strong hands-on experience with Unix/Linux systems, including system troubleshooting, performance tuning, and scripting
Solid expertise in Oracle Database, SQL, and PL/SQL for data analysis and issue resolution
Proven experience in Shell scripting and Python for automation, tooling, and reliability engineering tasks
Intermediate knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, S3, CloudWatch, Lambda, Glue, and Athena, with hands-on experience supporting cloud-based platforms
Experience with batch processing and scheduling tools (e.g., Autosys, Control-M, or equivalent)
Observability Experience
Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Grafana, or similar
Understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code concepts
Exposure to distributed systems, messaging frameworks, or microservices architectures
Experience & Capabilities
Proven experience in site reliability engineering, production engineering, or application support within critical environments
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex incidents under pressure
Good understanding of ITIL processes including Incident, Problem, and Change Management
Key Responsibilities Will Include
Ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance of critical Economic Crime platforms, production incidents, ensuring timely triage, resolution, and communication, while driving root cause analysis to prevent recurrence and strengthen system stability.
Monitoring application and infrastructure health, proactively identifying and resolving issues before they impact business operations
Performing deep-dive troubleshooting using Unix/Linux tools, log analysis, and SQL queries (Oracle DB)
Designing and developing automation solutions using Shell scripting and Python to streamline operational processes and reduce manual interventions
Supporting and improving system observability, including logging, alerting, and monitoring frameworks
Partnering with development teams to embed reliability practices into the software development lifecycle
Produce and deliver monthly reporting packs for senior stakeholders.
Lead documentation and SRE readiness for IRIS FFP go-live, ensuring all operational, risk, and production support artefacts are complete, compliant, and aligned to release standards
