About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact
  • Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines
  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs
  • Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors
  • Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
  • Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals
  • Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • Overall 11+ years of experience and Advanced proficiency in React.js, React Hooks, Redux, React Router.
  • Strong JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript know-how.
  • Solid CSS skills including Flexbox, Grid, CSS-in-JS.
  • Familiarity with Angular is a plus.
  • Expertise in RESTful API integration, security, cross-browser/device compatibility.
  • Lead the design and implementation of responsive, high-performance payment interfaces using React.js, Redux, and TypeScript.
  • Establish front-end standards, enforce best practices, and drive code reviews to ensure top-quality output.
  • Guide and mentor junior front-end developers in both technical and soft skills.
  • Architect scalable and maintainable front-end solutions build reusable component libraries.
  • Optimize UI performance across browsers (Edge, Chrome, Firefox) and devices.
  • Implement robust error handling, data validation, and secure API consumption.
  • Build specialized UI components for financial transaction flows, including real-time status updates and notification systems.
  • Develop intuitive monitoring dashboards that visualize transaction metrics and alerts.
  • Ensure secure handling of sensitive financial data and compliance with industry standards.
  • Excellent leadership, mentoring, and communication abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and effective time management.

Job Expectations:

  • The UI Lead will spearhead the design and delivery of Front-end solutions within a payments environment-encompassing EFT, RTGS/Wires, SWIFT, and real-time transaction systems. You will architect, implement, and maintain secure, performant, and user-friendly transactions and dashboard interfaces while mentoring a team of UI engineers.
  • Work closely with UX, backend developers, and product owners to translate design into functional UI.
  • Participate in architectural and API design discussions.
  • Produce and maintain comprehensive technical documentation and support sprint planning.
