Role Title: Lead Software Engineer

Role Overview:

We are looking for a highly skilled Software Engineer with expertise in backend software development to design, build, and scale modern, cloud-native applications in the area of Privacy and Data Governance, building trust in our customers to responsibly use their data at a global scale by operationalizing privacy laws and data governance best practices. You will play a key role in architecting scalable systems and driving best practices across development and operations. The ideal candidate will have experience working with AWS services, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and advanced database design using SQL.

Key Responsibilities:

Backend Development:

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services using Python (advanced level preferred) or Java
• Build scalable APIs (REST/GraphQL) and microservices
• Ensure code quality, testing, and performance optimization
• Implement authentication, authorization, and secure data handling practices
• Integration with Kafka and Airflow

Database & Data Engineering:

• Design and manage complex schemas with advanced SQL (performance tuning, indexing, query optimization)
• Work with relational databases (e.g., Snowflake, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Aurora)
• Ensure high data integrity, availability, and scalability

Cloud & DevOps:

Architect and deploy applications using AWS services, including:

• S3 – Object storage
• EKS – Kubernetes orchestration
• EMR – Big data processing
• Lambda – Serverless computing
• Leverage additional AWS services as needed (e.g., EC2, RDS, API Gateway, CloudWatch)
• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment

Containerization & Orchestration:

• Containerize applications using Docker
• Deploy and manage workloads on Kubernetes (preferably EKS)
• Ensure efficient scaling, monitoring, and fault tolerance

Version Control & Collaboration:

• Manage source code using Git (branching strategies, PR reviews)
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in agile environments
• Mentor junior developers and guide technical decision-making

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Advanced proficiency in Python or Java for backend development
• Strong SQL skills (complex queries, optimization)
• Experience with using Snowflake database
• Hands-on knowledge of AWS ecosystem (S3, EKS, EMR, Lambda, and more)
• Experience with containerization (Docker) and Kubernetes
• Solid experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• Solid experience with ETL data processing
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture
• Proficiency in Git-based version control workflows
• Excellent problem-solving skills and system design capabilities

Nice to Have / Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Airflow workflow orchestration
• Experience with Gen AI / Agentic AI systems (LLMs, prompt engineering, AI workflows)
• Experience with event-driven architecture (Kafka, SQS, SNS)
• Familiarity with monitoring & observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
• Exposure to ML pipelines or data engineering workflows
• Knowledge of security best practices in cloud environments
• Undergraduate/bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
