Job Description: Category Lead - Services (EPC - Gas to Power Projects)

Position Title: Category Lead - Services

Location: Oman (Project Site/HO)

Reports To: Section Head(Services) - Supply Chain Management

Project: EPC - Gas to Power

Role Overview:

The Section Head - Services will lead the services procurement function for EPC projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective sourcing of construction, commissioning, and support services. The role demands strategic oversight, team leadership, and strong vendor management, with a focus on leveraging international sourcing, particularly from China.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the services procurement team, including Category Leads and Buyers.
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for key service categories: construction, logistics, manpower, commissioning, and technical services.
  • Drive China sourcing initiatives for construction-related services and materials to optimize cost and delivery.
  • Ensure alignment of procurement activities with project schedules, budgets, and technical requirements.
  • Oversee contract negotiations, finalization, and administration for high-value service contracts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with global and regional service providers.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, local regulations, and HSE standards.
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve escalated issues to ensure service quality and continuity.
  • Provide regular reporting and insights to senior management on procurement performance and risks.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • 15-20 years of experience in services procurement, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within EPC or Oil & Gas/Power projects
  • Proven experience in international sourcing, especially from China
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement analytics tools
