Role Description

The Lead – HR Business Partner (Retail/Stores) will own end-to-end HR for the frontline retail workforce, ensuring optimal manpower availability, store leadership capability, productivity, compliance, engagement, and retention across large store networks. This role is highly execution-oriented and works closely with Retail Operations leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Retail Workforce Strategy & Productivity

  • Design and drive store manpower models, deployment norms & productivity benchmarks
  • Partner with Retail Ops to ensure right staffing, right skills, right cost
  • Manage peak hiring, festive staffing, and NSO ramp-ups

Hiring, Onboarding & Pipeline Management

  • Ensure high-speed, high-volume hiring through multiple channels
  • Build Store Manager & Assistant Manager pipelines
  • Own onboarding effectiveness and early attrition reduction

Performance, Incentives & Capability

  • Drive PMS, store KPIs alignment & incentive effectiveness
  • Enable capability building for Store Managers and frontline leaders
  • Partner with L&D to roll out retail learning programs at scale

Attrition Management & Engagement

  • Diagnose attrition drivers at store, cluster & region level
  • Implement targeted retention, engagement & recognition initiatives
  • Strengthen manager effectiveness to improve employee experience

Employee Relations, IR & Compliance

  • Manage ER cases at store level (disciplinary action, grievances, misconduct)
  • Ensure statutory compliance across states (attendance, wages, CLRA, Shops & Establishment)
  • Support IR management for warehouses / high-density retail clusters
  • Ensure audit readiness and zero operational disruptions

Store HR Operations & Governance

  • Ensure payroll accuracy, attendance, contractor governance & vendor discipline
  • Drive usage of HRMS, attendance & scheduling tools
  • Enforce HR SOPs consistently across locations

Store Leadership Partnership

  • Act as HR SPOC for Retail Ops Head, Zonal / Regional Heads
  • Support NSO, store closures, relocations & restructuring
  • Ensure HR readiness for business growth plans
