About The Role
We are seeking a QA Lead to own quality strategy for Carta maintenance releases. This role combines hands-on test leadership with planning, risk assessment, and quality gate decisions across UI, API, data, and background-processing changes.
Carta is Access's enterprise document and workflow platform family, including CartaHR, CartaDC, and CartaAP. CartaHR is a cloud-based HR document management system that centralizes employee records for fast, secure, and compliant access from anywhere. The broader Carta codebase also powers document retrieval, scheduled processing, integrations, workflow automation, retention controls, and customer-specific deployments across the Carta product suite.
This team is focused on maintaining, stabilizing, and modernizing the existing codebase. No net-new product functionality is expected as part of this staffing model.
Key Responsibilities
- Own test strategy for application, API, database, batch, and interval-task maintenance releases.
- Create risk-based test plans and ensure high-impact changes receive the right level of validation.
- Lead defect triage, quality go or no-go recommendations, and release test coordination.
- Coach QA engineers on test design, exploratory testing, and documentation quality.
- Partner with the Technical Lead and Scrum Master / Business Analyst to make acceptance criteria testable and release-ready.
- Improve the balance between manual validation, API testing, data validation, and automation.
Required Skills & Experience
- 7+ years of QA experience, including leadership or ownership of test strategy for enterprise applications.
- Strong understanding of web application testing, API testing, SQL validation, and integration-heavy releases.
- Experience planning validation across environments and coordinating QA work within release schedules.
- Ability to mentor others and communicate quality risk clearly.
- Comfort working in both hands-on and leadership mode.
Qualifications
- Experience with automation tooling such as Cypress or API test frameworks preferred.
- Strong communication and escalation discipline.
- Experience in maintenance and support-heavy delivery preferred.
