Job Description

Job Title: Lead Projects Accounts & Finance

Location: Corporate Office, Vadodara

Reporting To: CFO

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to lead Capex Planning, Controls, and Commercial Oversight for our large-scale projects. The role demands strong financial acumen, cross-functional coordination, and hands-on experience in managing petrochemical or large industrial projects. The incumbent will play a critical role in ensuring financial discipline, transparent reporting, and effective risk/commercial management across the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

1. Capex Planning & Control

  • Prepare and monitor project budgets vs. approved Capex.
  • Track commitments, payments, and forecasted cash flows.
  • Ensure alignment with financing plans and availability of funds.
  • Monitor deviations and provide early alerts to management.

2. Commercial & Contract Support

  • Partner with procurement/contract teams to evaluate commercial/financial terms.
  • Validate cost impacts of scope changes, variations, and claims.
  • Support negotiations with contractors/suppliers with financial impact analysis.
  • Ensure contracts safeguard owner's interests (payment terms, LDs, escalation clauses, etc.).

3. Cost Visibility & Reporting

  • Maintain transparent dashboards for management visibility.
  • Track committed vs. actual vs. forecast costs across all packages.
  • Highlight cost overrun risks and potential savings opportunities.
  • Present monthly Capex utilization and cash flow forecasts.

4. Timely Payment & Fund Flow Management

  • Coordinate with finance/accounts for milestone-based disbursements.
  • Ensure compliance with payment terms and avoid penalties.
  • Monitor vendor invoices, certification, and payment cycles.

5. Risk & Compliance Oversight

  • Ensure adherence to internal Delegation of Authority (DOA).
  • Track project insurance, guarantees, and tax implications.
  • Monitor forex exposure and financing covenants (if funded by lenders).

6. Decision Support

  • Provide scenario analysis for change orders, delays, or alternate procurement options.
  • Highlight cost-benefits of engineering/technical changes.
  • Support management in balancing Capex with lifecycle costs.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong understanding of Capex project lifecycles (EPC – Engineering, Procurement, Construction).
  • Sound knowledge of contracts & commercial terms.
  • Strong analytical, forecasting, and risk assessment skills.
  • Ability to coordinate across project, engineering, procurement, finance, and treasury teams.
  • Proactive in providing early warnings on overruns or cash flow mismatches.
  • Strong reporting and presentation skills at senior management level.

Education & Experience

  • Education: MBA Finance with BE (preferred)
  • Experience: 14+ years of experience
  • Prior experience in petrochemical or large-scale industrial projects.
  • Proven track record in Capex control, commercial management, and dispute resolution.
