Lead Primary Transport

Job Purpose

Plan, organize, monitor and finalize freight contracts for FG from Units to customer locations including intermediate stock points for exports for Primary and Downstream plants- Rolled Products Raw Materials like Bauxite from mines, Alumina from refinery/port, Furnace Oil, CP Coke,, Lime etc from third party suppliers for inter plant movements of Ingots and HRC & CRC from primary to downstream units for Fly Ash from CPPs to Cement and Brick plants. Also export in EXIM containers.

Evaluate transporters and provide feedback on performance set targets for improvement. Help the business units achieve optimum results in terms of on time delivery, ensure quality of service from the transporters to the units, ensure adherence to all the statutory, safety and legal obligation involved in transportation take proactive as well as reactive steps against non- conformities, if any arising out of the tendering process or Post tender scenario. Also ensure tracking all FG trucks through service provider.

1. Prevent injury to drivers & loss of goods due to accidents by over speeding and rash driving
2. Set speed limits
3. Safety compliance of the pressurized vehicles for carriage of Alumina and Fly Ash
4. Ensure compliance of safety norms and use of PPEs at by logistics operators at plants, mines and warehouses

Sustainability

1. Create an environment and awareness towards risk management in logistics function
2. Set up a system to track and report Scope III carbon emissions for all logistics movement.
3. Focus on evacuation of waste from plants - Red Mud & Fly Ash.
4. Critically examine the mode mix to ensure that the more environment friendly option be chosen for the operation.

Customer Centricity

1. Building the framework for return and smalls logistics
2. Ensure GPS implementation
3. Ensure placement of vehicles as per number and schedule

Cash & Cost

1. Setting the rules for contractual obligations as pre-contracting RFQ document & setting the rules for negotiation and price discovery
2. Target freight determination basis ZBC, trend or freight index
3. Evaluation of vendors
4. Formalize an identified and qualified pool of service providers at each sector/business/ product category for effective competition
5. Formulating and implementing uniform diesel price variation clause across business
6. Freight negotiation / adherence to budget
7. Using e-auction as a process for price discovery wherever feasible
8. Build the framework for returns & smalls logistics
9. Preparation of Revenue Proposals for proposed spend and compliance adherence

People

Provide necessary support to units as and when required

System -Ekayan

1. Facilitate roll out of Oracle Transportation Management System across all units
2. Identify modules from existing TMS that can dovetailed into OTM
3. Identify and implement existing OTM functionalities.
