Lead Piping Engineer

Role: Lead - Piping Engineering

Location - Chennai

Key Responsibilities:

To lead the Piping Engineering discipline across all EPC/O&M projects by guiding design, layout development, material engineering, routing, pipe stress coordination, interface management, fabrication oversight, and cross-functional coordination. The role ensures technical excellence, design standardization, engineering governance, timely deliverables, and delivery of high-quality piping engineering solutions that meet project, client, and statutory requirements.

• Strong subject-matter expertise in piping engineering, plant layout, routing & stress
• Proven leadership in managing large piping teams and multi-project portfolios
• Excellent stakeholder management with Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil & Project teams
• Strong command over piping standards, codes and constructability aspects
• Ability to manage vendor reviews, fabrication drawings & site clarifications
• High attention to detail, risk identification and technical problem solving
• Strong communication, presentation, and client-facing capability
• Ability to drive design optimization, standardization & engineering improvements

Competency-Technical:

• Expert knowledge of piping systems for Water/Wastewater/Desalination/Process plants
• Strong understanding of P&IDs, 3D model integration, GA drawings, isometrics & BOQs
• Piping material engineering, MTO preparation, specifications & line class creation
• Familiarity with fabrication (shop & field), erection methodology & hydro testing
• Advanced understanding of ASME, ASTM, AWWA, API, IS piping codes
• Experience with piping layout in water treatment plants (clarifiers, filters, RO skids, tanks, pumping stations)
• Ability to review vendor documents, interface drawings & equipment connection detail
