Job Overview
The Lead Fire & PHE Engineer will be responsible for the design, coordination, and technical oversight of fire protection and public health engineering systems for the construction project. This includes fire suppression, detection, and alarm systems, as well as water supply, drainage, and sanitation systems. The role demands strong technical expertise, multidisciplinary coordination, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design of fire protection systems including sprinklers, hydrants, fire pumps, and detection/alarm systems.
- Design public health engineering systems including water supply, drainage, sewage, and stormwater management.
- Review and approve design drawings, specifications, hydraulic calculations, and equipment selections.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., NBC, NFPA, IS, IPC, UPC).
- Coordinate with architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical teams for integrated design.
- Support procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning of fire and PHE systems.
- Conduct risk assessments, fire safety audits, and HAZOP reviews.
- Liaise with local authorities for design approvals and inspections.
- Provide technical support during construction and resolve design-related issues.
- Mentor junior engineers and ensure quality control of deliverables.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Fire Protection Engineering.
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in fire protection and PHE design for large-scale projects.
- Professional certification (e.g., NFPA, Chartered Engineer, PMP) is preferred.
- Experience in commercial, industrial, or high-tech facilities.
