Key Responsibilities
• Lead petrophysical activities across exploration, appraisal, and development wells.
• Plan, design, and supervise logging programs (LWD/Wireline), including tool selection, vendor coordination, and real-time monitoring.
• Conduct comprehensive formation evaluation, including porosity, saturation, lithology, and hydrocarbon volume estimation, and integrate results into subsurface models and technical documentation.
• Attend rig site operations during logging and coring activities to provide real-time decision support during drilling operations.
• Perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) of logging operations and ensure the integrity of acquired data throughout all phases.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including drilling, geology, reservoir engineering, geophysics, and related disciplines to deliver petrophysical insights and optimize data acquisition strategies.
• Integrate petrophysical interpretations with core analysis results (RCA/SCAL) and advanced logging data, and provide inputs for seismic interpretation, geological modeling, and resource estimation.
• Analyze and interpret advanced logs (e.g., NMR, Formation Tester, Imaging, Sonic Scanner, etc.) and develop workflows for evaluating conventional, unconventional, and tight reservoirs. Assess petrophysical uncertainties and evaluate their impact on volumetric resource estimates and prospect ranking.
• Coordinate the execution of coring programs and associated laboratory studies to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Analyze and interpret cased-hole and production logs to evaluate reservoir behavior, diagnose well performance, and support production optimization strategies.
• Engage proactively with partners, regulatory authorities, and third-party stakeholders to ensure technical alignment, operational compliance, and effective project execution.
• Apply machine learning and AI-driven techniques to enhance petrophysical interpretation workflows, automate analysis, and improve reservoir characterization.
• Evaluate emerging technologies to improve efficiency and reduce costs in data acquisition and interpretation.
• Manage well log data systems, QA/QC processes, and reporting standards.
• Mentor and train junior team members and lead training initiatives to promote technical excellence and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications & Experience
• Master's degree or higher in Geophysics from a recognized university
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the petrophysics domain within the oil & gas industry
• Proven track record in offshore exploration, appraisal, and development projects
• Willingness and ability to travel offshore for rig site operations and field QA/QC activities
• Experience working with major or international oil companies is preferred
• Exposure to Production Sharing Contract (PSC) environments and regional regulatory frameworks is desirable.
Technical Skills
• Proficiency in industry-standard petrophysical software such as Techlog, Geolog, and Interactive Petrophysics (IP)
• In-depth knowledge of logging tools, acquisition systems, and core-log-seismic integration workflows
• Expertise in advanced petrophysical interpretation techniques, including rock physics, facies classification, and saturation modeling
• Experience working with complex reservoir types including clastic, carbonate, and unconventional plays (e.g., shale and tight gas)
• Hands-on experience in applying machine learning, data analytics, and digital workflows in petrophysical evaluation
