About the Role
We are building the next-generation Global Satellite Constellation for highly precise and secure Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) using Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites. We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer Lead to handle the design, simulation, and testing of the navigation payload. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in CAD designing, structural dynamics, finite element analysis (FEA), vibration analysis, and mechanical design to evaluate and optimize critical components operating under demanding static, dynamic, and thermal environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the payload mechanical design from concept through release, and execute the detailed design of all associated subcomponents to meet mission requirements.
- Explore design concepts, and converge on the best architecture using analysis and simulation tools.
- Oversee design, manufacturing, and assembly teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Own mechanical interfaces across internal subsystems while ensuring structural, thermal, accessibility and harness routing constraints are respected.
- Conduct mechanical and thermal analyses, including static, modal, random vibration, and shock.
- Optimize designs for manufacturability, including machining technique selection and technical drawing generation.
- Define and perform the mechanical environmental testing campaign in coordination with the system engineers.
- Lead the mechanical integration campaign for flight hardware
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical, Mechatronics or a relevant technical discipline.
- 3-5 relevant experience developing, designing, and manufacturing space systems
- Solid foundational understanding of materials, manufacturing, designing, structural, thermal and vibrational analysis.
- Understanding of GD&T, aerospace standards such as AS9100, creation of drawings, working with manufacturing teams to develop products.
- Design and development of MGSE structures for testing.
- Proficiency in Catia, Abaqus, Ansys, or other relevant designing and FEA software.
- Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to interpret technical literature, institutional ICDs, and international legal/regulatory frameworks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working with uncertain or incomplete tracking observations.
