Location: Coimbatore, requires to be stationed in Odisha on a short term assignment to commission a greenfield project.
Key Purpose of the Job :
The Lead – Procurement (CAPEX) is responsible for leading the sourcing, evaluation, procurement, and execution of capital equipment and infrastructure for polymer manufacturing operations. The role requires a strong technical foundation in injection moulding and extrusion processes, along with hands-on experience in both Capex and Opex procurement.
The position demands the ability to handle greenfield and brownfield projects, ensuring seamless integration of machinery, utilities, and supporting infrastructure while maintaining
optimal cost, performance, and long-term reliability.
Educational Qualification / Experience required :
Graduate in Engineering (Mechanical / Polymer / Industrial or related discipline)
12–15 years of experience in Capex procurement and plant engineering support
Strong exposure to polymer processing technologies, particularly injection moulding and extrusion
Hands-on experience in handling both Capex and Opex procurement in manufacturing environments
Strong techno-commercial understanding of machinery, fabrication, industrial systems, and lifecycle costing
Strong Experience SAP Hana
Technical Scope & Equipment Coverage
Utilities and processing support equipment such as chillers, dryers, and temperature control units
Core injection and extrusion components including screw barrels and auxiliary equipment
Plant infrastructure and material handling systems such as compressors, material hoppers, and mold racks
Tool room machines including CNC machines, grinders, and precision machining equipment
Post-moulding and secondary equipment such as pad printing machines, laser marking systems, trimming, finishing, and prototype
equipment
Civil works including PEB (Pre-Engineered Buildings)
Repair and maintenance spares, MRO items, and IMD tools
Key Responsibilities:
Indicative Tasks
Manage complete Capex procurement lifecycle including technical evaluation, supplier selection, negotiation, and execution
Ensure timely delivery, installation, commissioning, and stabilization of machinery
Handle greenfield and brownfield project execution
Drive value engineering initiatives and evaluate ROI, net gain/loss
Manage procurement of Opex items including spares, consumables, and MRO
Develop vendor ecosystem including onboarding and capability building
Coordinate with engineering, production, maintenance, finance, and project teams
Key Competencies Required
1. Proven experience in importing Capex machinery, with sound knowledge of customs procedures.
2. Experience in brownfield and greenfield projects, with understanding of value engineering vs cost reduction, and concepts like net gain/loss.
3. Expertise in SPM (Special Purpose Machines) and pneumatic based machinery, including installation, commissioning, and integration.
4. Strong understanding of machine learning in line automation and machine to machine integration.
5. Ability to contribute to machine concept development, including alignment with our proprietary designs.
6. Knowledge of basic and advanced fabrication, with the ability to identify, onboard, and develop high Caliber vendors, building a
sustainable sourcing ecosystem.
Technical Background Requirement
Strong background in Injection moulding and extrusion processes, along with hands-on experience in both Capex and Opex procurement related to polymer moulding machinery and associated equipment such as:
a) Chillers, Dryers, and Temperature Control Units
The candidate should have experience in selection, procurement, and performance evaluation of process cooling and drying systems critical
for maintaining polymer quality and cycle time efficiency.
Knowledge in capacity sizing, energy efficiency optimization, and integration with moulding machines to ensure stable and consistent processing is
b) Screw Barrels and Auxiliary Equipment
c) Compressors, Material Hoppers, and Mold Racks
d) Tool Room Machines (CNCs, Grinders)
Strong experience in sourcing and evaluating precision machining equipment such as CNC machines and grinders is required.
The candidate should understand accuracy requirements, productivity parameters, and integration with tool room operations for mould manufacturing and maintenance.
e) Post-Moulding Equipment (Pad Printers, Laser Markers, Trimming Machines, Prototype Equipment)
The role requires familiarity with secondary processing equipment used in finishing and product identification processes, including printing, marking, and trimming operations.
The candidate should have exposure to automation possibilities, quality requirements, and integration of these processes into overall production flow and product development activities.
Project Procurement Experience – Key Requirements
Proven experience in handling project procurement for greenfield and brownfield projects, ensuring seamless execution from concept to commissioning while aligning with timelines, budgets, and operational requirements. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to
manage multi-phase projects with clear planning, execution discipline, and stakeholder coordination.
Strong hands-on experience in Civil and infrastructure procurement, including vendor selection, BOQ evaluation, and contract finalization for structural works. The individual should be capable of managing quality, timelines, and cost control in civil construction activities within manufacturing setups.
Experience in procurement and execution of PEB (Pre-Engineered Buildings), including design coordination, vendor development, and execution planning. The candidate should understand structural requirements, material specifications, and erection timelines to ensure efficient project delivery.
Proven capability in managing end-to-end Capex procurement cycles for plant projects, starting from requirement definition to commissioning. The individual should ensure smooth coordination between engineering, finance, and project teams while maintaining commercial discipline.
Ability to manage multi-vendor project environments, including contractor management, performance tracking, and resolution of execution
challenges. The candidate should ensure alignment across suppliers, contractors, and internal teams to maintain project schedules.
Strong understanding of value engineering versus cost reduction, enabling the selection of technically superior and commercially viable solutions. The candidate should focus on long-term operational benefits rather than short-term cost savings.
Experience in project budgeting, cost tracking, and financial evaluation, including ROI assessment, payback analysis, and net gain/loss calculations. The individual should support decision-making through data-driven insights and structured evaluation frameworks.
Ability to drive vendor development for project procurement, including identification, onboarding, and capability enhancement of contractors, fabricators, and equipment suppliers. The candidate should build a sustainable ecosystem to support future expansion and standardization initiatives.
