Lead Kubernetes Engineer

THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a seasoned Lead Kubernetes Engineer to own and evolve our cloud-native infrastructure strategy. You will serve as the technical anchor for Kubernetes platform engineering and multi-cloud container operations across GKE, AKS, and Amazon EKS. This is a high-impact role that bridges engineering excellence with organizational influence

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

Must-Have

- 8+ years in Platform/SRE engineering

Kubernetes Platform Engineering

- Lead the design and day-2 operations of production Kubernetes clusters across GKE, AKS, and Amazon EKS.

- Define and enforce cluster hardening standards: RBAC policies, PodSecurity standards, network policies, and admission controllers.

- Own Helm chart library: author, version, test, and publish charts; govern values schema and upgrade strategies.

- Implement AI workflows using ArgoCD or Flux for declarative cluster state management.

- Manage cluster autoscaling, node pool strategies, resource quotas, and multi-tenancy models.

- Lead Kubernetes version lifecycle management — planning upgrades with zero-downtime rollout strategies.

Cloud Infrastructure & IaC

- Architect reusable Terraform/Pulumi modules for cloud-native infrastructure provisioning across AWS, GCP, and Azure.

- Enforce cloud governance: tagging policies, cost allocation, guardrails, and security baselines across all environments.

- Design and maintain multi-environment (dev/staging/prod) infrastructure topology with environment parity.

- Drive FinOps practices: right-sizing, spot/preemptible workloads, reserved capacity planning, and cost dashboards.

- Understanding Security, Compliance & Reliability aspects of the platform

Leadership & Collaboration

- Partner with application engineering, security, and product teams to define developer experience (DevEx) standards.

- Drive internal documentation, runbooks, architecture decision records (ADRs), and knowledge sharing.

- Contribute to hiring: interview, evaluate, and onboard senior engineers and contractors.

- Present infrastructure roadmaps, risk assessments, and platform health metrics to senior leadership.

- Cloud certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, or GCP Professional Cloud Architect).
