Lead

The Observability Implementation Lead/ Architect is the primary build-and-configure owner for the New Relic rollout across application and cloud estate. Where the Observability Architect owns the design, standards and client-facing architecture decisions, this role owns turning that design into working, validated monitoring — agent deployments, alert policies, NRQL, synthetics, dashboards and the FreshService ticket integration — and leads a small delivery pod of engineers to do it.

This is a hands-on delivery role with day-to-day coordination responsibility. The candidate must be comfortable working directly with client infrastructure, application and ITSM teams to unblock access, chase endpoint details and drive tasks to completion against a fixed go-live date.

Key Responsibilities

Build & configuration (primary)

Deploy and validate New Relic agents — APM, Infrastructure, Browser, Logs — across cloud-hosted application and server estates, following the architect-approved standards.

Configure ping and scripted synthetic monitors for SaaS and vendor-hosted applications where agent installation is not possible.

Build alert policies, alert conditions, NRQL queries, workloads and notification channels in line with the agreed threshold and SLO baseline.

Build role-based dashboards for guest-journey, application-owner and infrastructure audiences.

Implement and test the New Relic Fresh Service alert-to-incident integration, including webhook configuration, payload mapping, severity-to-priority routing and CI/CMDB linkage.

Apply entity naming and tagging conventions consistently and remediate drift.

Delivery leadership

Run the day-to-day sprint execution — task assignment, standups, progress tracking against the Phase 1A/1B activity plan.

Lead a pod of 2–5 observability/monitoring engineers; review their configuration work before it goes live.

Track dependencies and blockers (cloud IAM roles, ITSM API keys, endpoint URLs, vendor responses), chase owners and escalate to the Architect and Program Lead early.

Maintain the implementation tracker and provide accurate weekly status.

Quality, testing & handover

Validate every monitor and alert end to end — trigger test conditions, confirm ticket creation in Fresh Service, confirm routing to the correct owning team.

Tune alerts post-deployment to reduce noise and false positives.

Write and maintain runbooks, configuration records and as-built documentation.

Lead UAT execution and support knowledge transfer sessions to client operations teams at phase handover.
