1. Credit Appraisal & Underwriting (NBFC / Institutional Borrowers)
- Conduct comprehensive credit assessment of NBFCs, HFCs, MFIs, Fintech lenders, and wholesale borrowers.
- Analyze borrower business models, governance structure, lending products, underwriting processes, sourcing channels, and risk controls.
- Perform detailed financial analysis including:
- Balance sheet strength, leverage, ALM, liquidity profile
- Portfolio quality (GNPA, NNPA, PCR, stage‑wise assets etc.)
- Profitability, capital adequacy, and borrowing profile
- Evaluate co‑lending / on‑lending structures cash flow waterfalls, security cover, and legal enforceability.
2. Risk Assessment & Structuring
- Assess credit, concentration, liquidity, operational, and governance risks of NBFC counterparties.
- Structure transactions including:
- On‑lending lines
- Structured credit (as applicable)
- Co-lending/BC
- Recommend risk mitigants such as covenants, triggers, collateral, guarantees.
3. Credit Policy & Governance
- Ensure alignment with internal wholesale credit policies and RBI regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to formulation and periodic review of:
- NBFC counterparty eligibility norms
- Exposure limits and sectoral caps
- Rating‑based pricing and risk grading frameworks
- Prepare and present credit proposals to Credit Committee / Risk Committee as applicable
4. Portfolio Monitoring & Surveillance
- Monitor NBFC borrower performance on an ongoing basis:
- Portfolio trends, delinquencies, write‑offs, recoveries
- Covenant compliance and early warning indicators (EWS)
- Conduct periodic credit reviews, renewal assessments, and stress scenarios.
- Track sectoral risk, regulatory developments, and macro trends impacting NBFC borrowers.
5. Regulatory, Audit & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with RBI guidelines for:
- NBFC funding / exposure norms
- Concentration and connected lending rules
- Scale‑Based Regulations (SBR), where applicable
- Support internal, concurrent, statutory, and regulatory audits.
- Implement audit recommendations and corrective action plans (CAP).
6. Stakeholder & Relationship Management
- Partner with business, treasury, legal, compliance, and operations teams to structure viable deals.
- Engage with senior management of NBFC borrowers for due diligence and reviews.
- Act as an independent risk advisor while supporting healthy portfolio growth.
7. Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead and mentor credit analysts and business managers in wholesale credit underwriting.
- Build expertise in NBFC risk, structured lending, and portfolio surveillance.
- Drive standardization, documentation quality, and turnaround time (TAT) improvements.
