Role Summary

The Business Analyst will work closely with stakeholders, product owners, engineering, QA, and project teams to gather, analyze, and document business, functional, and system requirements for Head End System (HES) and Meter Data Management (MDM) solutions in the Energy Meter domain. This role is responsible for translating business needs into clear user stories, process flows, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria, while supporting planning, tracking, and coordination through project management tools in a .NET-based software delivery environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Elicit, analyze, and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements for HES, MDM and other applications in the Energy Meter domain including applications for Android and IOS devices.
  • Work with business stakeholders, domain experts, product owners, and engineering teams to understand metering workflows, data exchange, operational use cases, and reporting needs.
  • Translate business requirements into BRDs, FRDs, user stories, use cases, wireframes, process flows, and detailed acceptance criteria.
  • Create and maintain requirement traceability across business needs, functional specifications, development tasks, testing, and release deliverables.
  • Support analysis of HES and MDM processes including meter onboarding, communication events, alarms, reads, validations, estimations, synchronization, exception handling, and system integrations.
  • Collaborate with .NET development teams to clarify requirements, review solution approaches, and ensure feasibility, scalability, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Use project management and delivery tools to support planning, requirement tracking, backlog refinement, status reporting, dependency monitoring, and milestone follow-up.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including backlog grooming, sprint planning, reviews, and UAT coordination to ensure requirements are correctly understood and delivered.
  • Work with QA teams to define test scenarios, review test cases, and validate that delivered functionality meets business expectations.
  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, risks, and change impacts in requirements and proactively drive resolution with relevant stakeholders.
  • Support integration analysis across HES, MDM, billing, analytics, customer systems, and other enterprise applications as applicable.
  • Prepare business presentations, solution walkthroughs, meeting notes, status updates, and requirement review documents for stakeholders.
  • Contribute to process adherence, documentation quality, and audit readiness aligned with organizational standards, including CMMI Level 5 and ISO practices.

Tools & Technology

  • Project management and tracking tools such as MS Project, Azure DevOps, Jira, or equivalent
  • Azure DevOps or similar tools for backlog management, requirement tracking, sprint support, dashboards, and traceability
  • Documentation and collaboration tools such as MS Office, Visio, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Confluence or equivalent
  • Understanding of .NET-based application environments and software delivery lifecycles
  • Knowledge of integration concepts, APIs, data mapping, and interface documentation
  • Exposure to SQL/data analysis for requirement validation, reporting, and issue investigation is preferred

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in software product development, enterprise applications, or utility/energy domain solutions.
  • Strong experience in requirement gathering, business process analysis, functional documentation, and stakeholder management.
  • Preferred experience in Energy Meter, Smart Metering, AMI, HES, MDM, or utility domain projects.
  • Experience working with software development teams using .NET technology-based applications.
  • Hands-on experience using project management or delivery management tools for planning, tracking, and coordination.
  • Good understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience working in sprint-based delivery environments.
  • Ability to create clear user stories, use cases, process diagrams, workflows, and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience supporting UAT, defect triage, requirement clarification, and release readiness activities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Experience supporting process compliance, documentation standards, and audit-related evidence is preferred.

Quality, Process & Compliance (CMMI Level 5 / ISO)

  • Ensure requirements, process flows, and related documentation align with organizational SDLC and quality standards.
  • Maintain requirement traceability and documentation completeness across analysis, development, testing, and release stages.
  • Support audit-ready documentation by maintaining approved templates, review records, change logs, and requirement baselines.
  • Work with delivery and quality teams to ensure compliance with defined processes aligned to CMMI Level 5 and ISO standards.
  • Promote structured documentation, version control, and continuous improvement in requirement management and delivery coordination.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
  • Preferred certifications in Business Analysis, Agile, Scrum, or Project Management.
  • Preferred exposure to utility, smart metering, or enterprise software domain training.
