Lead, Government Projects (Rajasthan)

Location: Jaipur, Rajasthan, India

1-Year Contractual Position

We are seeking a highly motivated, dynamic, and self-driven candidate who would like to have a challenging and meaningful career path in government partnerships, programs, and the social enterprise space. Government partnerships and programs are a key focus area in our organisation and require a proactive and dynamic approach. The candidate should be dedicated and sincere towards her/his work and should always be open to learning new things. The candidate should have in-depth subject matter knowledge, expertise, and experience. Timely and high-quality delivery of goals would be essential and will be a key performance measurement criterion. S/he will work in West India and manage one or more regions. S/he will drive strategic government partnerships, innovate at scale in public health systems, and lead multi-stakeholder projects. Initially, s/he will shape and expand our in the Government of Rajasthan's MAA NVY (Netra Voucher Yojana), with opportunity to extend to other states and projects. This is a senior team management role involving matrix management across government, private sector, and nonprofit partners. The position demands hands-on leadership in complex environments, technical assistance to government, and a commitment to extensive travel. She/he will develop new government partnerships and foster and grow existing relationships. The candidate would manage the project from start to end, including overseeing performance and delivery. S/he will be based out of Jaipur, Rajasthan. This is a 1-year fixed-term contract with potential for extension.

About You

  • You are passionate about improving access to quality eyeglasses by leveraging government channels.
  • Lead strategic discussions and high-level liaising with senior government counterparts, including state health departments at State and National level.
  • Provide technical assistance and advisory support to government health systems, ensuring alignment with national and state priorities like MAA NVS.
  • Shape and operationalise our support and participation strategy for MAA NVS in Rajasthan, scaling innovations and best practices to other states/projects.
  • Manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects involving government, private sector, and nonprofit entities, driving cross-sector collaboration and outcomes.
  • Innovate at scale by identifying opportunities for systemic improvements in government health delivery, piloting solutions, and ensuring sustainable implementation.
  • Oversee a team in a matrix management structure, fostering performance, capacity building, and alignment across distributed teams.
  • Conduct regular field operations, monitoring, and stakeholder engagement at state level, with nationwide travel as required.
  • Develop reports, proposals, and strategic plans to secure buy-in from government and partners, tracking impact through metrics like project scale, stakeholder engagement, and health system efficiencies.

What You'll Do

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with government, NGOs, and social sector organisations at state level.
  • Identify opportunities for partnerships and collaborations to advance our programs and goals.

Program Development

  • Design and develop programs in collaboration with government and social sector stakeholders.
  • Ensure programs align with our organisational goals and objectives.

 Proposal Development

  • Lead the development of proposals and concept notes for government and social sector partnerships.
  • Ensure proposals meet donor requirements and are submitted on time.

Reporting and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with government and donor regulations.
  • Prepare reports and submissions as required.

What's Required

  • Advanced degree in Public Health, Health Management, Public Policy, or related field; MBA or equivalent preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in government liaising, with a proven track record of driving strategic discussions with senior government officials (state/central level).
  • Deep understanding of Indian government health systems, policies, and programs (e.g., MAA NVS, NHM, and similar government health initiatives).
  • Strong ability to drive innovations on a scale, with examples of large-scale health interventions or systemic reforms.
  • Prior team management experience, preferably in matrixed environments with remote/distributed teams.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and relocate within India if required for project expansion.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and negotiation skills for high-level government interactions.
  • Strategic thinking with a results-oriented approach to project management and innovation.
  • Proficiency in health systems analysis, program design, and monitoring/evaluation frameworks.
  • Excellent communication (verbal/written) for reports, presentations, and cross-sector partnerships.
  • Adaptability to field-based work in resource-constrained settings; cultural sensitivity for Rajasthan and pan-India operations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (especially PowerPoint for presentations) and project management tools.
